997.2 PDK sport steering wheel on my 997.1

Hey guys I thought this might interest some of the tiptronic owners out there... I got my hands on a 997.2 pdk sport steering wheel and had a lot of people tell me that it wouldnt fit on the hub or the tiptronic shifter on the wheel would be incompatible with the car or I would get an error light. Well... i just completed the install today, everything fully functional (one of my favorite upgrades Ive done so far). Here is a pic of the steering wheel. If anyone interested in the upgrade or need any help just pm me.

Nice work, I would have thought that Porsche would have made them harder to switch over.

Thanks guys.....by far my most gratifying mod, and believe me i've done alot of mods so far. Ok heres the deal no adapters, pdk shift works great just like the tiptronic. I did the install myself. If any of you are local id be more than happy to help. The only weird thing is that I posted this more than a month ago. I dont know how it ended back upas a new thread. I guess mod revived the thread. Well thanks for all the props and ill have pics for u guys soon.

I KNEW this would fit, I mentioned it to a coworker when we were at the Porsche Launch event last year. I figured the up/down shift would be wired the same, and the multi-function is probably the same too. It's about a $1000. upgrade to the standard PDK steering wheel with the airbag (options and upgrades are available), not a bad deal. I'm sure this will be a popular upgrade. Great job, you're a pioneer!

Were you able to reuse your airbag (assuming you had the sport wheel to begin with) or, if you didn't, does anyone know if the sport steering wheel airbag will move over to this wheel?

I want to do this!

I had the triangle airbag so I had to buy a circle airbag which I believe is the same circle airbag that comes with the sport steering wheel.

Kaz- Way to go buddy, props for taking the chance and paving the way on a cool new mod for fellow 6speeders to enjoy. Big two thumbs up!!

(We really need a forum section to organize good DIY-specific threads- these end up getting lost in the general section - Mods??)

Multi-function with a leather airbag would be $1463.77 plus shipping, dealer activation would be required for multi-function.
