My '06 can read mp3's. And the passenger window will auto close after it gets to the half way point. Also,while I was hunting,I found some (2)extreamly early 05 997's had the 996 steering wheel. Other than that, the 06-08 is the same car. Minus a few grand

 

The earliest 997's available were the launch cars, they came with the 997 steering wheel. I would say that the ones that you saw had the wheel replaced, the only reason I can think of, is due to an accident and then a low budget repair...run away from these cars.
