Sorry for the public rant, but I like to give credit, where credit is due.

Without going into painful detail on the history, I came across 6speedonline in my research and pursuit of my 911. In the last 5 months, i spent 3 months reading and along with a couple of other forums and doing research to find my car and over the last couple of months I have been posting and learning now that I own my 997 S.

Everyone on the boards I have come into communication with have been a class act. Informative, helpful, genuinely wanting to give sound advice. Even if that is not always the case, that is always the intent.

I have spent time talking with several of the board sponsors who have gone above and beyond in helping make sound decisions before spending money and ensuring that the necessary follow up was provided.

Tomorrow I plan on placing an order for my new wheels. I have spent the better part of a month, talking, reviewing, researching to find the right wheel. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, I had to go back to the drawing board to pick something else because of some reservations I had with the company I was originally getting the wheels from. Yet, even with PM after PM and email after email, those that have been involved, were patient and accommodating.

I guess this goes out to the entire online community here, thanks for all your comments, advice and help. I can't wait to get the new wheels and do a photo shoot with them on. I am going with the Vorsteiner V301. My car is coming along nicer then I even thought it would. Best and most fun car I have ever owned.

IB should be proud of the product they have created here.

 

Same as you, got lots of information on this board in helping me with my purchase. After I got my car, it came time for wheels just like you. Almost was going to wait awhile (maybe up to a year) until I could either justify the wheels I wanted, buy my 2nd choice, or wait on a used set. After a couple of PM's with Dan at Vivid Racing, he got me set up with what I always wanted. HRE P40's in the brushed finish, shipped on Friday and should have them on by the end of next week. Great to work with.

 

I am on other forums as well as this one, but I find the members (with the exception of a few), sponsors, and moderators are really good people, and want to help.

 

You know what is great, you were one of the first people that I interacted with here. I remember I could not even discuss with you via PM as I just did not have the post count yet. It was awesome to watch you publicly go through the same experience that I did. I can't wait to see pictures of your car with the new wheels.

 

i have been on many boards and have to say that they all have good posters.

what makes 6speed special is the way its run. with integrity and decipline w/o being totalitarian. that cant be said of a lot of other forums, including some owned by IB

 

Thanks for the kind words. Fun watching you get your car as well (and than some of the trials and tribulations you had right after but looks like everything worked out perfectly). Great detail you did in the Detailing section by the way.

Wheels (and TechArt sideskirts with a drop with some TechArt springs) should be done by the end of this coming week and I'll get up some pic's.

 

As a newbie, this forum and it's members have helped slow down the process and aid the buying experience and search process. A wealth of knowledge lies in these here pages and it is indeed a class act. Thanks to all, and keep the info flowing.

 

the most help i have found on any forum is here (especially in the porsche section)....i still come here even thou i don't have it anymore....found that bmw forums are much less helpful..and more immature

 

I strongly agree with the comments here and love coming to this forum from time to time. The great thing about this forum is that it's informative, but even better is that it is filled with guys who love their cars and are willing to help one another out!

 

I agree as well.
I have been cruising the "boards" for 6+ years now....e46fanatics, m3forum, m5board and now 6speedonline....goes with my change of cars...lol.
6speed while not as "entertaining" as some of the more immature boards....very good knowledge here and some first class folks. I miss the odd flame here and there but goes with the more sophisticated crowd of 6speed.

I like it here . I probably spend too much time here . I don't even have a 997S anymore. But I stay because ....

The new Porsche 997 and 997S owners remind me of my first Porsche often. Even the sponsors --some come and go while others really impress me with their talent and pride in their work.

6speed has been a big outlet for me . The common interest in these great cars bring together a collection of ideas and variety of personalities which enhance my ownership experience even when I am not driving.

I'm just waiting for a 6speed license plate holder, key chain , or small decal so that we can spot each other on the road and affirm on my car that i value this community.

 

I really enjoy looking around the forum as well... The people that I get into contact with are really helpful, really kind...

I joined this forum way after my purchase, I still am modding my car. People are helping me to choose what products to go with, I see what people think about their products and etc.

Last week Dan from Vividracing has contacted me, helped me pick my wheels (HRE P40) and purchase them; with helps from Joe (thanks a lot Joe!). Now, eventhough I am half way around the world and far from my car, I am able to keep in contact with Porsche Lovers, and get some info about the parts that I want to purchase

I must agree with you all, when I first got my car my friend told me about this site, once I was on, I was hooked. Its really great to see that there are other NUTS like me who love their cars. Also its been really great in getting to meet and run with other Porsche guys in my area.

I have also found that there have been numerous times when I needed help and a member actually went as far as giving me their number and staying on the phone with me for hours trying to find a way to get my dension to work, or how to upgrade something, etc.

Great to see others enjoying 6speed as much as I do

 

Compared to places like E90Post, this place is a gold mine. I don't post very much here, but that's because I spend more time soaking up useful information.

I remember when I found this site, right before purchasing my first 996 Turbo, I was so thankful for the resources here. I've made many friends here and as a Moderator and then Admin I was and am able to give back to the community..
