Can't hook up Iphone 3GS to 997.2
I got the new Iphone 3GS and I am not able to hook up the bluetooth. On my old Iphone (2g) there was no issues and it worked fine. With the new phone the car can not find the device.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Tried that. Did not work.
LOL
One neat thing on the 3GS that I hope they will make it work with PCM is the availability of A2DP, which allows streaming of music in stereo and also full IPOD control wirelessly. That means if this works, the PCM will be able to integrate with the IPOD portion of iPhone 3GS to play music through bluetooth.

One neat thing that is now working with the new iPhone 3.0 software (which didn't work before on my PCM 3.0 with iPhone 2.xx software before) is that the voicemail now plays through the PCM...it only played back through the phone before...much better now...

I was able to pair my iPhone 3GS successfully with the PCM 3.0 in my 997.2. For what it's worth, I had previously upgraded the PCM software to Version 1.4.
Also, you may have already tried this, but as I recall, the "Find your phone" function in which you press the "button" on the PCM screen to tell it to find your iPhone doesn't work. You need to go to the Bluetooth settings screen of your iPhone, look for the PCM there, and initiate the pairing from the iPhone.

No problems here pairing my 3G 3.0 iPhone with my 997.2 PCM3 car. Takes a while to find the phone when doing the initial pairing (30-45 secs at a guess) but once it find it the phone book transfers quickly and it works well.
Same with my old 2G iPhone running firmware 1.1 and then 2.2.1, and with my 3G phone on 2.2.1. They all work fine.

That is the solution.
Here is what I did, since the find phone/bluetooth feature failed through the PCM.
1) Have the iphone 3gs, find a bluetooth device. It will located the PCM, then you attempt to connect. The PCM will ask for a passcode, you make up a number. Then on the iphone, it will ask for the passcode.
2) It's only partially connected. You can make a phone call on the iphone and it will work on the cars speaker. But the PCM says no phone/ phone book available. Then you go the the PCM and have it search for phone device and it will located the iphone.
The phone book gets updated and it's all set. A new feature I noticed is that I can hear my voicemail through the car now.
Thanks for the help guys.

Something weird happened to me thr other day, after successfully using a paired 3gs for a few months. Bluetooth in pcm 3 now intermittently won't turn on, and when I go to thr phone screen and press "turn bluetooth on" it pauses for a second and reverts to off without any indication of what is wrong. Restarting the car doesn't help, but then last time I left the car overnight, it worked in the morning. Then again on the way home from work no Bluetooth again. I have already had it updated by the dealer (before this problem started), but I should double check to make sure they really did it.

You're supposed to get a new Porsche when you get a new iPhone.
