18's on my 09 S something different!

Here are some pictures of CCW 18's on my 2009 Carrera S. These are my track wheels and I do not run around on the street with them. I am not sure I like black but they are lightweight forged and super strong.

i think it looks great. to be honest, once in a while, i feel my 19's look too big and other times, just right. i know i will never put a 20 on this car.

i have purchased 4 sets of ccw's to date from JP. his lightest track wheel is the 3 piece classics. not as durable as the corsair on the street but excellent for the track. the only downside to them is the classics wont clear some big caliper set ups.

Yes the R888are now sticking good...after 3 track days they were better. I am on 5 track days with them now and the rears are way past the wear markers so they are working even better.

I've noticed that R888 spin on the wheels a lot more than other tires. The wheels are back at my local shop and they are trying to figure out if they should bead blast or machine the edge of the rim where the bead of the tire meets the rim.

I called CCW about this and they said this is typical of R888's and all the race teams have major issues with R888's spining on the rims.

The CCW's are very popular on the local and national racing scene. They are used more by race teams than anything else except for BBS, Forgeline and Fiske. The OZ's I've seen are cast...mostly a street wheel designed for looks. The Rays...ie Volks are great wheels and they are a forged wheels like the CCW.

As far as bang for the buck forged wheel with custom offsets you can not beat CCW.

I know people that have the CCW wheels and love them. I probably would have a set of them if I didn't get such a great deal on the Volk TE37's.

Car looks great Mike!

Thanks! Yes, the 18's with the meat of tire I have really looks right to my eyes...very performance minded. The big wheel and thin sidewall of 20's just does not seem right on a Carrera and the stock 19's are pushing it for me. Although I had a long talk with Pat Long and he asked a Porsche Lizards engineer and I was told that my Sport PASM was designed around 19's but with the bumpy Sebring track that 18's would work really well too. I almost got 19's but went with 18's.

The real reason I do not drive these on the street is that if I get a nail in my track tires they are done...no patching a track tire. Plus R888 howl like a 18 wheeler so with the tire howl, typical Carrera S tire noise and my free flowing exhaust it can be very noisy in the cabin of the car for a daily driver.

I'm gonna go with set of 18's for track use but what is pushing me back is I have been told that there is no way I can match the overall diameter of the factory 19

FACTORY:
front
19 inch wheel + 2*35mm tire = 552.6 mm

Rear
19 inch wheel + 2*30 mm = 542.6 mm

------------------------------------
18 INCH
front
18 inch wheel (457.2 mm) + 2*X = 552.6 mm
X=47.7 mm (Does not exist, you have to go with 40 mm or 45mm)

Rear
18 inch wheel (457.2mm) + 2*Y mm = 542.6 mm
Y=42.7 mm (Does not exist, you have to go with 40mm or 45 mm)

There is not an 18 inch tire that matches the factory required overal wheel+tire diameter. My concern is since the ABS, traction control, stability managment, speed, etc...is linked to the factory overall size any change might cause some problems.

i would really appreciate it if anyone can help
