Is this a good price?
If I was you, I would pass. Typical used car BS they are putting you through. Especially if you have tire issues, which means alignment problems.
Take your time, the right car will come around.

yeah, I just got a whole weird vibe during the whole time from my Sales guy. BTW, he finally got back to me with the DME (oh, it took what 1 hour for him to do so?).
over rev in range 3: 67
over rev in range 4: 2
I'm passing on this car most def. And I agree, the bald thread on the front tire was weird.

Wow, talk about horrible customer service. Back in the good old days where cars were going for M.S.R.P., maybe these "Sales Advisors" could get away with that behavior, but now and days, forget about it.
Sometimes a car can be attractive --not for how it looks as much as what the previous owner reveals. Look at this car for example .http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false
Even though I am not a fan of red and beige look at the ad. For starters Delray Beach is smooth roads , good climate , not congested, and even highways are fairly decent too. But this is what brings it home is the ad .. In my opinion this is the type of used car which offers a shopper a little bit of comfort in knowing the last owner took care of it and was mature enough to share a bit that.

"Just did 15,000 mile service at Champion Porsche. Two years of factory warranty remaing. No scratches, chips, dents or tears. Senior citizen original owner. Why am I selling? Three car garage and four cars with two drivers. Wife says one car must go"

Yeah, that's a case where the crappy photos he took with a camera phone are not necessarily a bad sign. BUT he does want $70k. If it sits for a while, you could catch him at the right time.
So Warzilla, they finally forked out the DME scan. Haven't seen many range 4 numbers reported before. The 3 and 4 numbers are really small though, hard to say they really mean much. I mean they are like milliseconds at that RPM.
They didn't provide it for me either, but promised it when I would come in tomorrow. If there's no paintwork and no leaks, it is a pretty nice car, CPO'd for a really good price. Everyone has a Bimmer...

Cabs cost more than coupes and those Champion wheels are approx 5K (also has 4 new tires and 15K srvice). That car will pull at least the low 60's but more importantly is that with 4 new tires, a 15K service and a mature driver I'd be surprised (if not shocked) to see any severe engine over revs ,brake and clutch wear , or other signs that it was driven excessively .
I am not a cab person . The used cab shopper who buys probably will have years of enjoyment with it.

Sorry to hear they weren't forthcoming with the DME. Thanks to the great advice from Larry and others on this forum, I insisted on getting the DME e-mailed to me before I even drove out to see the car (2 hour drive). The manager grumbled a bit but they had the DME the following day at no charge. Needless to say it was zeros across the board and I bought the car. My local dealer was actually really cool when I took it in to have them give it a look over (I reflexively to it in to change the oil... safe thing to do in my book when you bring a new car home). My SA and his techs actually let me hang out and watch them do the oil service. They had to do some recall service bulletin on the fan (ecu reprogram) and then actually ran the DME for me again. In the month and a half that I owned it I had put about 15 Stage I's but it was otherwise clean. The techs basically did a free inspection and to my relief gave her the thumbs up! Sorry for the rambling... but if it doesn't feel right, listen to what they guys on this forum say. It's better to move on and find the right car rather than inherit problems. Good luck. I will never be without a Porsche!

yes...but what an ugly color combo...
In hindsight, I think it was a case of bad client/salesman relationship. I wasn't 100% sure with the car, and if my salesman was a bit better in talking to me about my issues and trying to find a resolution then maybe a sale could have been had. Instead, I had these issues and I think the saleman just wanted me to shuddup and just buy the car (ie don't worry about an DME, bald front tire, etc).
Thanks everyone for your input, this is a very nice forum, I really mean it (light years different from those bimmer posts)

I got the DME and in the frenzy of buying the car... didn't ever question it's validity. It looked official and had the VIN number and mileage. I even called them back as the mileage looked off (My sales advisor called back that he was able to convert the miles to Km and get the mileage listed on the DME!). When I was getting the car serviced... I got a bit nervous and had them run it again. Fortunately... there was nothing except for the 15 or so Stage I's which I had added. Previous owner was described as some exec in Marin county who babied the car and just wanted a PDK instead. To the OP... keep looking. I had a dealer sell another car out from under me. Everyone here did advise me that I would regret not getting the S and they were right. When the right car came along I jumped.
Hello All,
I was quoted as Marine8541 in which 6speed does not allow me to post any further since I'm a vendor now.
Anyways just to chime in quickly Softronic can offer a DME complete check with all other control units for $100 to any future buyer. At this price all that is required is that you have a Durametric cable and then call us. What we will do then is activate the cable via our server and fully read out the DME and other info giving you ALL info on the car such as over revs, mapping, hours logged , all options, comparisons with other control units in the car, total miles and much more. Basically we can check all the data in the control units.
Should you not have access to a cable we can offer you one.
Best Regards,
Scott Slauson.
