Is this a good price?
Totally new to this forum. Got rid of a bimmer and want to buy a pcar.
I'm thinking of buying a 06 997 cs2 with the following:
- black/black
- aerokit package
- sport seats
- gear/handbrake alum
- heated front seats
- sport chrono
- nav
- bose
- sport shifter
- sport exhaust
- 19 inch carrera sport
- sport steering wheel
- 1 yr left on warranty and CPO
for 55k. Sounds good?

I think I found the car --20K miles ?
Looks great for the price but you need to check the engine with a DME scan .
It's priced exactly where it should be based on region and options.
Congrats BTW -- Love the black !!!

You are posting as i am posting . I was impresed by their inventory and pricing and am going to look at their other cars too but in yoir case you are spot on at 55K .
Another forum member is paying a tad more but his car has some more options . Did you close at 55K or is that what you are hoping to close at?

As them for a printout of the scan . If it reveals only level 1 and 2 you face no doubts. anything more opens up a little more to evaluate.

Awesome, thank you for your advice. I see you are good at this and seen you on other forums. I'm closing on 55k once I see the DME and service records. Good to hear that I'm good with the price.
It may be 'cheesy' but I like the aerokit, just gives it some more 'character' then the classic lines of an traditional 997 c2 or c2s.

The aerokit is an expensive option . I noticed that they had two black cars both with the kit . On one I could not make out the front to view it carefully . I'm guessing you selected the one with the black wheels . The DMe scan will say a lot .
I looked at all their cars . In the used section .. they must be reading my posts because their ask prices are precisely where they ought to be and in my opinion .. it's about time .
I just hope the car checks out clean for you .
If it does ... you saved a lot of headache because its a beautiful car.

To the OP, great looking car. I just looked it up as well. CarFax report shows one owner so that's always a good thing. Interesting that the latest info shows the car going up for sale back in 2/6/09 so if it's been sitting on their lot that long, good price should be yours to be had. Funny how they have two cars that are so similar.
Might as well have them do a full PPI on the car as well. Maybe they will throw that in with your agreed upon price if everything checks out.
Good luck. Great looking car.

Don't mean to thread hi-jack, but I've been following these for sale threads closely, and I have to speak up on the DME scan subject.
I think there has been too much emphasis as well as misinterpretations of the DME, here on 6speed.
ALL Porsche cars, if their engines were started and driven, have range 1, 2, and 3's. Just turn your key on the ignition and watch the RPM's soar.
If an engine is broken, Porsche will search for range 4,5,6 within the last 75 hours of operation to see if an over-rev could have been the cause. If you use your sports chrono function or have x51 or any ecu software upgrade, and enable your hard rev limiter (which cuts off the fuel), you will have a few range 4's (a very small number).
This quote states it best:
Another thing to keep in mind: Porsche does a hot test before releasing the engine and building the car, and this test goes waaayy past your range 4,5,6's:

Ranges 1-3 are just 200 RPM's apart in a spread for each range just for mainly info on how you are bumping the rev limiter. Ranges 1-3 are common for just winding up to the rev limiter at 7200 , inertia will generate up to range 3 at this time. This will depend on your driving.
Range 4 is 500 rpm and encompasses two different types of engines, ones that red line at 8200 and those that shouldn't. Basically all the 987 and 997 other than the X51 or GT3 that red line at 7200. This range shows a ID on which engine or mod is in the car between the two.
Range 5 is considered the gray or warranty void area for both engines in question and is generally not good as far as Porsche is concerned.
Range 6 Is a void of warranty and encompasses the 10200 rev limit. The 10200 is the point that all the 987 and 997 engines will succumb to valve float. The 10200 has a separate minimum classification in the DME. After this range is tripped it will record ANY rev above it in the max Rev limit. This is read out in the VAL or Vehicle analysis report. Unfortunately most Dealers do not understand it either.
I should also mention that the 996 and 986 had a range 1 and 2 with the same 10200 max.

It is 4's and above which simply raise awareness . If one has the choice to buy any car and is deciding between one vs another that DME gives one more piece to consider.
Show me even one new car off the boat with many over revs .
It's much like buying a car with miles , or age or any other factor --most want to buy a used car that is to a degree as close to new as possible . One still may never know if the previos driver picked his nose and placed his hand on the steering wheel but it is a good thing that at least the DME results are available .
