PDK withOUT Sport-Chrono
A PDK without it simply a tiptronic with paddleshifters IMO. I'd stay away from that car if you ever plan to sell it as a big part of the marketing buzz is the launch control and sport mode. It doesn't matter whether people use it, it's the Christmas party effect in that people will want to be able to talk about it.
I have only driven a 997.2S once with PDK and withOUT SC.
Yuk.
It is DETERMINED to get and stay into 7th ASAP and it saps whatever fun you might think you can have in it during non-race-conditions driving.

Sure I'm being the devil's advocate here, but I get the feeling that PDK is much misunderstood: there are some owners like me who "get it" and like it and others who got duped into it somehow and have great remorse, and others who think it is the devil incarnate and the further ruination of 911s - TIP with teeth - very bad.
I just hate to see the OP get steered away from a nice car for other's motivations that might not be in sync with his own. Someone will own that car and probably enjoy it. To know if SC is really a deal-breaker, the OP needs to drive some cars and figure it out - I don't think there is a universal clear cut answer.
When I put it in M, it is determined to do whatever I say and when I say - and even in "slow mode" most likely completes the shift quicker than...OK, let's just say quick and let it go at that. While my month of daily drives with PDK is not a huge amount of experience, it is much more than once.

I do ABSOLUTELY agree and recommend that anyone considering such a purchase, learn all they can from forums like this, then go drive it and see what you think. It's a kick 'butt' car no matter what.

UCLA has been posting about buying a car for over 6 months. He has walked away from a lot of cars . Do you really think this one more car would make that much of a difference ?
My guess is one day he will see a car that leaves him with no doubts . This one though may not be "the one".
