Like others have said, probably needs a replacement battery. This past Saturday my car started right up after sitting for 12 days straight. Hope you get it resolved soon.

My car sat for 2.5 mos. without it ever being started and the battery was drained. I took it for an hour drive and have had no issues so far. I also left the car unstarted for 3 weeks and the car started right up. If you get 3-5 years from a bettery that's about the norm.

take ur car to a porsche service and ask them to get a reading of the input output voltages. prolly it ur dynamo (accumulator charging) failing u and hopefully it didnt damage any parts yet. its kinda common in 997s

to Locus: several experienced techs have told me to go with Interstate rather than OEM replacement.

General: my Porsche trickle charger says to NOT use it on sealed batteries.

FWIW: newer Pcars should be locked when not in use; too many electronic things keep running and you cut 2/3 of them when car is locked.

the verdict from Porsche today

Got it jumped from roadside, started right up, no info mssg stuff, everything fine. Drove it to dealer--turned it off, waited about 20 min's, and when I turned it again, it was a reeeeal slooow ignition turn. Advisor said there's a wire that feeds or comes off the battery that has been a problem on the 997's--and recommends replacing it and battery at ZERO charge (warr.) A tech came over and felt the same way, the battery. Sorry for my lack of technical knowledge and terms... that's all I got so far. Thanks for all replies! This is a great forum. I will tell advisor about recommendations made by you guys.

did you leave your key in? That drains the battery fast. Make sure you pop the hood before the battery completely drains or you have tho go through a lot of work just to get it open.

You have to feed the hamster in the front boot, you know!

If the battery is ca 5 years old, its probably at the end of life and needs to be replaced. A battery maintainer may limp you along, but the fundamental problem is likely the battery is at end of life and will not maintain a charge past a few days. A good battery would allow the car to sit for a few weeks and start up again. If not driving for more than a few weeks, THEN a battery maintainer is recommended/needed.

same here, my 2004 996 turbo died for being in the garage over 10 days. is it ok to charge the battery with regular battery charger by removing the battery terminal? will there be any problem with the key remote control codes or any other system computer codes. any comment? thanks......

If you leave a door unlocked and leave the car to sit it drains teh battery quicker than if you locked it.
