wow... all this talk is a bit disheartening... I think I am currently priced out of the market... and I do agree that prices have gone up... I've been watching prices for awhile now...

What's sad is I had a chance to grab an '06 C2 w/ 23K miles and 1.5 yrs of warranty left (11/06 original sale) for about $42K. I was wishy washing trying to decide if I wanted an S or not... and now that deal and all the rest are gone...

I am dead set on an '06 C2 or C2S... I was set on about $42K for the C2 and $46-48K for the C2S depending upon car. Unfortunately, these prices don't even get me to the negotiating table now... Could I move up in price? Yeah, I could but I want to be financially responsible, and the $42-$48K is an acceptable range for me to spend. Let's remember, spending money we don't have is how America got into this financial mess in the first place...

I guess my plans for the car is on hold indefinitely... the economy is still slow so who knows, prices may come down again... dang, and I just got the okay from the wife to "go for it"... I keep looking, but the used 997 market in socal is pretty dry right now...

akim47 check with Auto Gallery:
http://www.laautogalleryporsche.com/...ventoryListing

They still have some inventory. The prices you see on that website are not the going price, as they are usually lower. You will need to request a quote over email or phone. I bought my car there and even though it's a bit of drive from OC, it'll be worth it if you find a good deal.

Good luck. don't give up your search just yet.

You can get a low miles '05 S in the 40's if you get lucky. The S is definitely worth it, I think. Can be done, but the used cars are firming up. You might want to wait for the winter, prices will soften then. Be careful with the purchase though. Check the carfax, check for bodywork and be sure to get a DME scan to make sure nobody's beat on the car. Good luck.

Hypothetical question:

How much more $ is one year newer model year worth? Assume same amount of options, same mileage, color, tranny, etc.. Identical cars but one is a 2007 and one is a 2008. $2K? $5K? $10K?

I'm looking into two black C2S right now but I'm looking at 2005 vs. 2006 in So Cal right now.

2005 Launch Edition w/ 13k miles. Adaptive seats, bose, PCCB, heated seats, nav, warranty expired. Looks to be well maintained. Asking $58k

2006 w/ 8k miles. Reg. sport seats, bose, Nav, heated seats, lowered(unknown suspension, salesmen only told me it was installed at a Porsche dealership). Status of warranty unknown, but probably due to expire soon...price just got lowered to be $49,999.

I like the launch edition one, but the owner said he's only driven the car 300 miles in the last year and I'm worried about the seals on the car from just sitting around.

Would prefer an 06, but I'm starting to like the idea of having adaptive seats, and I wish this 2006 had a stock suspension. The pricing is just right if I can get it down to $46-47.

How much would it be to put back in the stock suspension?

What do you guys think of the two cars mentioned?

Moto --what's your spending limit? It sounds like you want a $50K Porsche and they are out there but you won't have warranty or you may have ro buy a C2 instead of an "S" to make that extra 5K of savings secure a better maintained car.

Right, didn't you tell me, what's your spending limit, then add $8k to it!
Seriously, you don't want to spend $50k and get a toad. Personally, I would stay away from a car with an aftermarket suspension. If you look at '05's, you should be able to get one in the low 50's AND get it CPO'd. That's your best bet.

One of our local dealers has 2 07' C2S, 11K miles each, Basalt Black/Black, Sport Chrono, Bose, Sport exhaust and PCCB's. I think they are asking 62K. I know they are a bit out of your range, but man, that seems like a decent deal to me. I'm sure they'll come down a bit too. Gonna to check em' out tomorrow.

$62K with those options sounds like a great deal. Wish I had those choices a month ago...

Thanks Larry. I just have to be patient but ideally $50k would be about right. I missed out on a 2005 C2S, well maintained, carrera classic wheels (which I wanted) , heated seats, 21k miles, never seen rain, extended warranty for $44k.

It did have a ding on the hood, so I ended up taking the night to think about it. 6pm on a Friday. I decided I wanted it and called next morning around 11 AM and someone who looked at it that morning put a deposit down. Gah!

I've been regretting missing out on that deal since and that was me just being a newb to shopping for a 997. Since then I've noticed most cars are overpriced in my area....

That does sound like a great deal, especially w/ that 2005 Launch car asking for $57k. Let me know how it goes.

I did pick up a tidbit from a fellow 6speeder in that they went cheap on the cupholders after 2006 w/ the trim. Lame.
