They were ready to talk about price

As some know I replaced the Honda Si with another Honda Si (new) . At one point I considered a used 997S , made an offer (55k) and walked . I liked the car that I bid on and felt that the salesman (named Matthew) did an outstanding job . I felt that he did everything he could do but the final number was between myself and his manager and it did not fly.

Well I got a call today-three days later --they were ready to talk .

I did not buy the car but this car is worth asking about . Mathew also told me that they just got an 06 C4S in impeccable trade with 18K . The asking prices are what they read but at least they had a few days to think it over .

I have no regrets from walking from the deal but some of you guys are looking and I did drive this car. It was clean (not spotless like my car but very clean and nicely kept) . had low miles and driove real nice.

Took them 3 days before they called you back? Suprised. I would have put the over/under call back to you for the "why don't you come back in and let's sit down and see what we can do to make this happen FOR YOU" at 48 hours

Just wonder - once got used to rear drive power drive what do you find attractive in FWD car like Si? Not to mention it needs half of suspension re-done to start handling well... It is really odd to see it next to 911 in one line really. But, I guess, it is a matter of choice. Well, I also drive my ES300 on all my regular occasions but it does not even slip my mind to compare it to any sports car...

Utkinpool -
There were cynics who once thought that the rear engine Porsche could not handle well and much like that car has advanced so has the front wheel drive Honda Si . The engineers have sought the means to challenge and in many cases even defy physics.

The front wheel drive Si with limited slip differential handles better than one might think. In my case the car is used for supermarkets. shopping mall parking or mundane miles . It can jump off the line though and its more known for its juvenile boy racer appeal but it would take a lot of mods to make the car more potent. I do have a 997tt and M3 if I need to drive a more spicy vehicle.
I woiuld not underestimate its cornering ability though . watch it chase a boxter.

WOW - 61% of MSRP on a 2yr old C2S with < 10k miles is a very good, but reasonable deal. That's incredible. It's obvious from reading your posts here that you know what you're talking about - it's just shocking, especially with the posts around here about the used market drying up/inflating - what would this have brought 3 months ago?! Ouch!

cPO?

is it cpo car or just some remainder of warranty left? Do you believe the car could be had for 55K? You mentioned not mint, low miles car etc so something stand out for wear on a sub 10K car... 55K for this car is a GREAT price IMO,

It is Cpo'd

First let me preface buy saying that I have bought many new cars from these guys and with my experience with sales and service have been extremely positive. I even like going to the dealership just to visit and see the Porsches , Ferrari, Aston, Lotus etc .. I have always felt very welcome there . This was my first time looking at a used car in that dept.

Here's my experience with the car--
1) The car just arrived had not even been detailed yet 3 days ago (it is now ) the paint and interior still were clean . The car looked very well kept , not showroom but very clean . Non smoker , no food crumbs , no dings, no paint issues ... clean.

2) It was disclosed that the clutch was replaced . I have confidence in the guys in service as they placed a stage 4 Gt2 clutch conversion in my Turbo . In short .. the clutch was buttery smooth on the 5 mile test drive.

3) The engine was seamless , no issues . The suspension was comfortable , The Bose radio and controls all worked fine . As did the A/C. The setting were in Italion and were going to be set to English . Being that Miami is an international city its common to see this .

4) I was at 55 . They were at 61 . They called me today which implies "the number" is somewhere in between . You can split hairs trying to figure it out or call Matthew (sales) or Tim in service . Both are great guys . I know Tim for 20 years . He's like family to me .

It is a very nice car.

If you end up not buying it Miami (South Florida) still makes a nice vacation .

My Turbo is two years old and is showroom impeccable .Mine still has the new car smell. I don't know many cars kept like mine but this car was real nice.

The only stand outs were that i wished the car had Michellins Ps2's but it was schedueled to get new P zeros as part of its CPO .

I prefer carrera classic wheels over sport design but they weren;t ready to change them . It's take it or leave it . I was on the fence . These are just little personal preferences .

The car itself was very nice . P zeros and sport design are certainly adequate . I'm just picky.

There was a weekend (Closed Sunday) and I also thought about the car too. I have bought many cars from this dealership just never a used car . It's not unusual for a deal to take more than one discussion . I really like the dealership . Part of the decision weighed having several cars already and three drivers . A lot of thought went into who would drive what car aside from the deal itself.

Owning several civics myself, I can surely attest to it's value as a get-around-town car (well, for me it was my only car then)... pretty reliable, economical, and a car you can take anywhere... it's nice to not have to worry about where you are parking... it's also cool that you don't find the need to rock the p-car everywhere you go... that's what's great about these cars (at least for me)... it's a self-endulging luxury that would be only for me and noone else... I work in Newport Beach, so I see a lot (too many) of the "hey I have a Porsche, look at me" types...

There are literally more Porsches in Newport Beach than taxi's. Driving down Jamboree daily you get glimpse of just about every super car currently available. Just last week I saw a Mercedes SLR zooming down with a Bimmer 3 series trying to keep up.

I see Porsche as more of a modest sports car for people who care more about performance/fun than being flashy. Those Lamborghinis are what's needed to be flashy in Newport area.

I couldn't agree more. One reason my wife went for the 997.2 is that it doesn't stand out in OC. Same for the 993 cab weekend/fun car.

Funny, I wouldn't lose any sleep over that car. It was really not terribly well equipped - note the sticker was only $89k. No real options besides bose and chrono. Plus, at least in my area, they wouldn't need to sell that car below $60k.
I figured I'd wait a year or two before I break it to my wife that we really need a Civic as a daily beater....

Rye -It also had leather power seats . I liked the simplicity of the car because even the options are the "right" ones . So bang for the buck , plus the depreciation on a sub 10K mi car made it atttractive . Girlfriend would have been driving it too but she has said many times that for work commute and valet parking the civic really is more practical . As for the Turbo --I am the only driver of that car . Someday I will have a two Porsche household where she and I can drive thse cars and enjoy them together .. I guess this wasn't the time yet.
