997 C2S 2005, 2006 or 2007?

I am considering a used 997 C2S. Is there any difference between the early launch (2005), 2005, 2006 and 2007 models? Any issues with any particular model year that I should look for?

Thanks.

IMS failure in the early 2005. Is the only thing that really come to mind. If I remember correctly that was corrected mid year in 2005. Some one feel free t chime in if I am off on my dates.

No major differences but the car did ripen a bit with age . 06 is the best year to start but factoring in warranty and pricing combined --07 is a sweet spot . Most 07's still have significant factory warranty left plus with Cpo it can exteend a bit . It offers a little peace of mind with the car's relibility and longevity costing less than an 08.

What is IMS failure and how do I look for this? Is this easily detectible with PPI?

Thanks

IMS= Intermediate shaft failure. Extremely rare and catastrophic for the engine if this occurs. No real way to check for it as far as I know. Jjust do a search on the forum. There are a ton of threads on it.

Just happened on my CPO'ed 05. Complete engine failure while driving on the highway.

I still have original warranty left so I think its a late year 05 but i'll check it when I get it back.

Getting a new engine.
