New Engine Is Installed...Car is Back Home
I picked up my car today with the replacement engine and aside from a tensioner that did not sound right everything was perfect. The tech that worked on my car was awesome and when I pointed out the noise I heard and where I thought it was coming from (around the alternator area) he immediately took the car back into the shop where he diagnosed and repaired the problem.
My service experience at Champion Porsche was nothing short of exceptional.
From what I can tell so far the clutch chatter is gone; I mentioned the possibility of an alignment issue with the old engine and trans as it was pointed out to me by a member here and the tech thought it could be the answer as they found my clutch and flywheel to be perfect.
I quickly noticed a few things about the new engine.
1) The car cranks much faster than before (the starter motor now sounds like it should)
2) The idle oil pressure at FOT in the 91+ degree Florida heat is about a half bar higher than before
3) I did not notice any knocking/pinging as before
4) The new engine has a different sound than the original; I dont mean from the exhaust but from the engine itself...just a different bit of tone.
I forgot to ask if the reman engines need to be broken-in again but I'd imagine they do...anyone know for sure?
Thanks to all those here for the support and guidance throughout this entire ordeal.

Thank you Larry.
Now I just need to give it a good wash tomorrow. Champion offered a hand wash etc but I like doing it myself; I have 0 swirls and only use non circular motions even when just washing.
Appreciated all your pms.

Congratulations on receiving your car back. It has been a few weeks but in the end the wait was worth it. A big plus to your dealer and Porsche for getting you a new (reman) engine without too much fuss.
I would suggest you break it in just like a new engine.
The driving enjoyment will be sweeter now that you know what it is like not having your wonderful Porsche to drive for a few weeks.

Thanks all.
Funny, I broke the first engine in 100% "by the book" and look what happened....I will however break this one in just a bit more aggressively.
My car comes off lease in about 6 mos so I will cherish them.

Congrats on getting the car back, and yes you should most definately break the motor in per Porsche spec as if the car were new. It must feel good to have hit the 'reset' button and finally be back on the road.
To be honest the ROW cars don't have a break in. Its there more for legal types who feel the possible liability of putting people in a car that is capable of the kind of speed the Porsche is and they kill themselves due to the fact they didnt' know what their car can do. However doesn't hurt to be prudent...
