Bilstein Damptronics Install

Wondering if anyone might comment on the complexity and difficulty of doing this install yourself on a 997S. I realize it would require an alignment when all done. I wouldn't mind saving the $500-$1000 installation fee on this already expensive mod.

I think that Verde did his own install recently.

IMO the mod isn't expensive, the improvements to the car are well worth every dollar I spent on mine.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but that is the one mod I didn't do myself. I felt OK with the coilovers, but when I found that I had to drop the gas tank to install the forward sway bar, I decided to outsource
I have spent a bunch of time setting the height and doing some cursory corner balancing. No problem if you have the time.
For skillset calibration, I have done a center radiator install, mufflers, constructed a battery bracket for a CF/Braille. But decided that the suspension component swap was too risky.
Oh, and you will enjoy the results.

Take the $ you save and have them put on by an experienced shop, align, corner balance then shred some twisties!

There's a DIY thread on the renntech.org 996 DIY forum under "Mods". You need to be a contributing member to view the post. I'm guessing that the install on the 997 should be similar.

Good luck and keep us posted on your efforts.

I installed Damptronics on my 08 C2S this spring. Pretty straightforward job, although "breaking" the ball joints on my almost new Porsche had me cringing a bit. I've had lots of experience modding cars in the past, so fairly confident and have the tools required. I had the car corner-balanced, set to final ride height and aligned at the local Porsche dealership. Couldn't be happier with the mod.
