Brake question 997.1 vs 997.2
Brake question 997.1 vs 997.2
Was at the dealer today and I noticed the the 997.1(non S) has the big calipers like the new 997.2(S) but the 997.2 (non S) has very small and puny looking brakes.
Did they downgrade the NON S brakes for the 997.2 or what exactly happened there. Doesn't seem very porschelike to downgrade something as important as brakes on a "newer" car.
Curious if anyone has any insight on this.

+1, the 997.2 (non S) has an improved brake system over the 997.1 (non S).
Look at the caliper of an S (big reds) and you will see they are an open design...you can see the pin holding the pads in and so forth. Look at the Non S calipers and you will see they are a closed design.
here are pictures of the black one i was talking about: they look like S brakes to me, but the car is not an S.. has 3.6L

Those are S brakes...re-painted. The NON-S brakes are smaller and the caliper is closed.
thats cool then, must have been an upgrade from the original owner.. or maybe was able to be ordered that way (option)
Can;t order A Carrera with upgraded S brake new from Porsche so I bet the owner upgraded.
