How much MPG to expect?
Depends how many miles you have on the car. About the only real service item that could improve the efficiency is changing spark plugs - AFAIK. If you were also getting maybe 10 mpg around town, it would be a sign that something is really not working up to par. That's why I'm wondering if people really turn a minimum of 18 mpg, because I'm way below that.
Porsche recommended plug change is at 60k, I think, but some dealers do it early if customers complain of rough running.

I am not getting 10 mpg around town, no way. Average in 'continuous' was sitting in area of 16 something and it included all previous bursts and runs at 5-7K RPMs. But thanks, I will keep an eye on this issue now.
Too bad spark plugs on this engine sit in somewhat completely awkward place, I probably will not be able to reach `em at all. And I will have no time to get to shop this week to get em replaced. Probably will do in in the fall together with oil change, on a car with 42K miles it is due anyway I guess.
I was getting an average on 20mpg with my supercharged 997S tip!. That is the same I'm getting with my current 997TT. Plugs (and coils) on the 997 aren't that hard to replace - i did it once and it took about 2 hours. On the 997TT, I probably would not attempt it.
I guess with 42k miles, plugs might improve the mileage. I hesitate a bit, since that is often recommended as a "cure all" that doesn't really improve anything. I have my car in for service today. I may watch the mileage for a while, but I'll ask them what I should be seeing for mileage and report back.

So, with AC I get 17.7 average, without it - 20.2. I would say it is a bit more than usual but in pretty same ballpark with my Lexus - about of 2 MPG diff for AC unit to run. So everything seems to be normal I guess.
I haven't heard back from the dealer yet. I know in 6th, I get well over 20. Combined city hwy I'm getting only 14. But I think the sport button has a lot to do with mileage. Probably more than the A/C.
The nice thing about the 997.2 with PDK is it lets you drive how you want to... put in automatic and apparently get pretty darn good gas mileage... or put in manual sport, upshift at 5500+ RPM, drive hard, and get "who cares" MPG ! With a Camry you don't get to choose.
Average around-town driving gets me 17-19 mpg. Around 23 mpg on the highway - with cruise control. I think it get remarkably good mileage for a car with it's power and capabilities. Thank goodness it doesn't have that fake 1st to 4th shift thingie that Corvette's have had for years.
Of course once I put my right foot down, these numbers are out the window. No surprise.

I will drive all the way home tonight with Sport mode off (it will be hard) and report when I get home if there is a difference.
Mileage can be highly dependent on the gas you use. Lower octane and higher ethanol content
can both reduce your mileage. On the highway I can easily get 25 MPG or better at 60-70 with cruise control on in 6th .In town 15 -16 if I don't push it too hard and don't hit the sport button too often. Having tried several premium brands I get best mileage on BP/Amoco premium 93 octane.
