Question on Widebody 997's + DME Results

I was talking to the dealer the other day, and he said that the 997.1 C4S is the same width as the turbo. But now the 997.2's are all the same width.

Does he mean same width, as in all regular body? Or all turbo-sized width? Or was he just flat out wrong? I now the 4 has the wider tires, but not sure about body size.

Thanks in advance!

The 4's are 1" or like .9" wider on each side than the 2's. That's for the 997.1's. Not sure about the 997.2's.

The scan seems very good. Pretty easy to get higher numbers in 1 and 2. Some ignitions in 3 don't seem to be a big deal. Ignitions in 4-6 are the questionable ones. What kind of car are you looking at?

I already know that for the 997.1's, trying to figure out the 997.2's!

Already in possession of a C4S.

Wow, I just did a model comparison on porsche.com and the dealer was right. Both the standard 997.2 S and 4S are 71.18 in (1,808 mm) wide. The 997.2 turbo is 72.91 in.

The 997.1 4's were also 72.91 in.

Mike I think that's a misprint...there is no change body wise for the 997.1 to .2. Only the front and rear facias are changed. I do believe the 997.24 and .24S are the same as the .1's.

This is from the features page of the Porsche site under design..

Specific to the all-wheel drive variants is the 44 mm wider stance at the rear and the new taillight strip, which, as a striking design feature, lends even more impact to the rear end.

Meh, that's a hell of a misprint. Wish somebody with a 997.2 4 would chime in.

I have a 2009 pamphlet "The New 911" that lists the non-4 as 71.18 inch width, the 4 as 72.91 width. As others mentioned the changes were to the fascia/bumper.

Maybe that is mirror to mirror and not fender to fender.

Hi Mike87:
I looking since months for C4 (either 997.1, or, preferrably, 997.2) just because of the wider rear body and the associated good looks (IMO). As some posters stated, the C4/C4S body of the 997.2 really is wider by 44 mm (see also Porsche website). To convince myself whether or not I really "need" the WB design, I spent almost an entire afternoon at Livermore Porsche/NorCal comparing the backends of a black 997.2 C2 and a black 997.2 C4 parked next to each other. The differences are clearly visible from almost every angle with the exception of, maybe, from the straight front. Therefore, I'm convinced that the width of NB 997.1 = width of NB 997.2 (C2 & C2S) and width of WB 997.1 = width of WB 997.2 (C4 & C4S & turbo).
