TIME FOR THE EXHAUST on the 997

HI Guys,

Since I'm new at all this I'd like to hear some opinions. I'm looking to change the mufflers on my 997. Can you guys tell me where I can find the best deal on a good system? I'm was thinking of AFTERHOURS since It seems to have a pretty loud sound without being too loud like the bypass pipes. I have to be careful with that since Montreal cops are very sensitive to overly loud exhausts especially when a 28 yr old is driving. I also like the FABSPEED mufflers. I was basically asking to see if any place sells those systems for less then MSRP.

Thanks for the help.

+1 with AWE and GMG, they are both sponsors.

If you want it louder and still looking stock replace the Cats and headers, leave the mufflers stock. This will sound great and still look like a factory setup.

Ricardo Canada is infamous around these parts
I recently installed a full AWE system (headers, cats and mufflers) on my 997S and absolutely love it. The sound is very easily managed by how heavy you are on the throttle. When you are just cruising it is not much louder than the stock set up. However, when you open up the throttle, it sounds fantastic. Here is a link to a video I posted on you-tube which compares the sound before and after the AWE install

Haha, finding just the right exhaust setup for each individual is fun game. I've tried Fabspeed, and am now on AH. LOVE! the AH pipes, as they are much louder than stock, louder than Fabspeed, but a step below the annoyance of bypass pipes for a daily driver. Plus, the sound of the AH pipes is more unique than Fabspeed: more growly, deeper and burbly, if that makes sense.

I am about to add the AWE cats (bought from Bara), which should add yet a bit more volume and growl. Top it off with the EVOMS CAI, and I expect it to scream on WOT above 5k RPM's.

Loud is not a problem for me, so I'm going for it with abandon.

i saw the afterhours setup, it was really reasonably priced. but then again it's basically some straight pipes with some glass packs. the AH set up is pretty tempting to me just based on the price alone. it does sound pretty wicked too. i love the GMG but there's not much of a comparison in the price so it's not a fair comparison.

FisterD exhaust hack FTW. No way you'll come close to the awesome sound for <$2K.

It's easily worth the couple hundred to give it a shot. I have yet to hear anybody disappointed with the result that pushed them to switch to anything else.

Agree, Try the muffler hack. I connected a pipe from the "nipple" at the corner of the stock muffler to the exhaust outlet pipe. Paid $100 for a muffler shop to weld in the 2" "bypass " pipes. Do a search on this type of hack.

Thanks for the info Cattman, when you're cruising, are the AH loud or pretty decent?
