Was checking out some cup car auctions and came across the pictures of the intake.

This is amazingly unrestricted. Super sweet, and I bet it roars.

Wow, that's huge. Like a big mouth bass sucking in cold air! With NA engines, I guess bigger is the only way to try to get in more air.

I believe there is a filter situated w/in the CF lid.

Quote: Wow! You could suck a small animal or bird through that hole! You would think they would have some kind of screen or light filter.

The filter is housed in the decklid- it's the red bit. When the decklid closes, it seals over the wide mouth bass hole of an intake, pre throttle body.

I am surprised that the filter is that restrictive, chicken wire would keep the big $hit out

No Mass Air either..well that's the way it looks like to me. They are running a speed density setup it looks like.

I noticed that too - Alpha-N mapping is often used on race cars as MAF sensors are just too unreliable. The logic goes that a MAF failure during a race can either mean retirement (best case) or a blown engine (worst case). Add to this that therre is no need to exactly control part-throttle emissions on a race car, that a MAF also adds restriction to an intake and there's just no reason to use them.

I wasn't sure if they were running AlphaN or just straight speed density. I figure most BMWs, Porsches that race run the AlphaN though..ala M3 CSL.

Ian, whats going on with your car??

One of the vendors has prototyped an intake for the 997.2 that is an exact copy of the cup car intake. Not sure how they keep the water out of the TB but it looks cool.

That is over the top
Seems a little unrealistic for a daily driver.
