Lowering Suggestions for a 997.2 C4S
Lowering Suggestions for a 997.2 C4S
Hi All...
I just got a triple black 2009 C4S Cab. I'm very happy with it, but I can't leave well enough alone. I want to dress up the exterior, which also includes lowering the car.
I already have a track car, so I'm not sure I want the expense of coil over shocks. I was wondering if just lowering springs would do the trick.
Also, would going with 20" wheels help fill in the wheel well area? If so, would 245/325's work?
I'm open to any and all dress-up suggestions, too.
Thanks

Contact Sharkwerks, they are a sponsor on this forum as they have lowered many 997.2S cars. 20's will not fill the wheel well because if you use the same over all diameter as the stock wheels you will just have less rubber side wall but more wheel. You can very easily upset the ABS and PSM systmes on the car if you do not keep with in 4% of the same diameters...this goes for 18's 19's and 20's.

I'm thinking of getting 245/30/20 fronts and 325/25/20 rears. I've heard of this combination being done, but not sure if "those" cars were lowered as well. Anyone have any thoughts?

Yes I can surely see a 1" drop working well. I have the Sport PASM on my 09 which is lower than the regular PASM and I could still go a little lower even for regular street driving.
Yep . I just can't see the 20's ... even for show . I think they flea market the intent of the original design which is to perform . To each his own .
To the OP ...
Why not lower this car on some high quality Bilstein or Techart coil overs ?
If you want some bling appeal why not make it functional with a set of Dymag carbon wheels with some titanium lugs ?
You can still make the car look great and keep it in line with optimal performance .

I just put these on on saturday.
20" HRE P40's on my C4S, yes I am running 245/325.
I think optimally I would need a 3/4" drop, doubt I will have any rubbing issues.
Will post up better pics soon, these were taken with my bberry.
Forgot off the top of my head but I know with this sizing I am withing 1% of stock 19 sizing.

If you want to keep PASM good and active, I suggest you consider spending the money on Damptonics. I've never been a fan of cutting corners (just springs) w/something as import as your Porsche's suspension.
The upside is you keep your suspension good, working (PASM), adjustable, and be able to set height, rake, corner bal, align, etc, for the life of the car.
As for 'filling out wheel well'......that, IMHO, is generally more about offset and height, than 20s and tire size. It's something I'm fairly **** about, on all my cars.....check my site.
Good luck and enjoy your new C4s, whatever you decide.
xxx/20's? Those 'rim protectors' are really low profile for a street car. Regardless of the 'look', considering where you live - with some rough and frost damaged roads, you're risking rim damage at every turn. I suspect the ride (rough) and handling (hunting and following every groove in the road) won't be a joy either.
