Question re: Adaptive sport seats

Hi,
I have the adaptive sport seats in my C4S and I don't seem to notice anything inflating in curves. My friend has the M5 and it seems like his seats "adapt" more obviously. Do the Porsche seats inflate and is it noticeable to most people??

Porsche seats are not dynamic but rather passive. You control the 'fit'; it doesn't change as a result of cornering force, speed, etc. BMW seats are dynamic and will 'adapt' depending on speed, cornering force, etc.

It would be cool if they did, but there is a reason the M5 is so heavy. If you want more support in the corners get some Euro GT3 seats or the GT2 seats.

ok
now I understand. Adaptive is sort of a misnomer. It's more like extremely adjustable seats!

I find dynamic seats incredibly annoying and gimmicky...I would simply turn them off anyway...

I have the adaptives and they are great but not necessarily worth the money.

Exactly, I think the adaptive seat just make everything electronic and add lumbar adjustment and memory settings. I was a little bummed at first that I didn't have the 'Adaptive' sport seats, but then I realized I never adjust lumbar, I'm not going to let anyone drive my car , and the added electronics are just more weight to the car and another thing to break.

Do the adaptive seats give better support and comfort... are they better for the track?

The only time the seats will adjust automatically is when you hit the sport button if you have set the system up correctly.

That is a big IF which I have not done so don't ask me how. I still need to read the manual in this area. However my brother had his car set up to do it so I know it can be done.

The are called adjustable sport seats, not addaptive. That should explain it.

I think you're referring to the 'memory' function. I know on my 'Sport Seats' I have (2) memory locations (ie. Driver/Key #1 and Driver/Key #2) that stores the seat position variables. They are then recalled when you either put the key is the ignition or push the 'seat memory button' on the driver's side door.

I don't use this function much as I like to adjust the seat depending on my driving mood. Sometimes I like to be closer to the wheel, adjust the lumbar or set the height position. The memory function just gives me a good starting point.

I never turn "adaptive mode" on in our M5. Great selling feature for marketing lame in real life. I wouldn't order it on any of my future cars.

You may be correct because I can find no reference to what I was talking about in the manual. So I will check with my brother because I thought for sure when he hit the sport button the he had it set so the bolsters tightened up.

Maybe he was hitting the meory seat 2 at the same time. I will find out.
