Stock sound system on C2 2009
That doesn't help me much in understanding what it is about the sound system you don't like. That tells me what other cars you have had, but not what is different about the audio system in those cars vs the Porsche 911 line. I'm not even sure I know what those model numbers refer to. If you want to talk audio quality... lets talk about the acoustic characteristics, otherwise it will be hard to understand what you may personally have liked about the audio system in a 645 vs a 911.
I can help a little here, but I am trying hard to like the stock set-up, so I ask that the owner of any other car I drive in,to please turn off their stereo.
But seriously, I would say that the pros of the system are: 1)decent staging and fair imaging.
2)decent midbass response
3) no door rattles
4) open and detailed response from 5K to 15K Hz
Cons:
1) horrible compression on increased volume
2) horrible sibilance at moderate volumes
3) no bass response below 80 Hz
4)system only plays to around 100db
5) bass transients are muddy
6)midrange sound ragged due to clipping (again at moderate volumes)
7) I am depressing myself now
So basically, it is B-A-D and worse than any car I have owned except my trust Honda Pilot. I think that listening to a new M3 with premium sound would probably knock you flat, and the Levinson audio in a Lexus might stop your heart!
Even a lowly vette has a better sounding stereo......
And the answer isn't to put an AWE exhaust on, or to not buy a sports car. There is no reason why a WRX or Ford fusion should have a superior stereo to a $100K car.......

Thanks for explaining why I think the sound system is inferior to many others, and lousy considering the cost of the car. I doubt it would have cost much more (if anything) to put in a decent properly designed system.

i believe is the how much 3D ? (surround sound) the car produces. and i feel its pretty weak. but i think i gave up and just take it as a "sports car"

doesnt the R8 have an B&O soundsystem?!
Complaining your 911 doesn't have a sound system worthy of an audiophile is like complaining that your mattress doesn't make a good dinner table or that outdoor paint doesn't make good ink for your fountain pen. I'm by no means an audiophile, but I can tell, and will agree, with a lot of the issues posted here about the Bose. It isn't the best thing in the world nor is it the worst. But the fact remains, if you can hear the radio well enough to distinguish a run of the mill sound system from a great one, you're not driving the car properly.
anyways yeah

It would hardly be a deal braker to put a bit heavier but better quality speakers.
