Uau, $71K for `07 car now... I am just trying to calculate in my head what was that discount amount folks got on 20% off MSRP deal on brand new 09 cars...

After doing a lot of reading here about Extended Warranties, I found out people have had very positive experiences dealing with EasyCare; which is the one my local Porsche dealer sells. I ended up getting a 72 months, $100 deductible for $3100. I figured, about $500/year is well worth it for the peace of mind.

If you do a search for EasyCare, you will find a reply I posted about a month ago where I attached the fine print of the EasyCare contract.

Cheers.

Red face extended warranty

I have an 06 C4S with 16 K the warranty will expire in October. My Porsche dealer will sell me a 75k 5 year warranty that covers everything for $2375. The company is Coast Guard. After having a Boxster with intermediate shaft
failure, this to me is a good price for piece of mind. They have used this company for years with great success.

CPO is "Certified Pre Owned".... so you cannot take the car you own in to get a CPO warranty, to extend your own expiring warranty, since its your car and stays your car.

Dealer was telling me that CPO is not just an extended warranty, it's also a way to ensure the quality of the car being sold. In addition to standard mechanical checks, the car also have to meet certain criteria like the number of body panels that had works done, the remaining tire thread and break, etc. They are not supposed to CPO a car that does not meet certain standards, even though it might drive perfectly fine. One local dealer told me they had to spend thousands to replace the tires and breaks on a car before they can give it the CPO status.

UPDATE:

Talked to my local Porsche dealer about a warranty.

They will sell me a Platinum Warranty that is backed by AUDI (full coverage like a Porsche warranty according to them). 3 years and 36K additional miles. $1700, 5 years 60K additional miles, $2800. I didn't ask about the deductible - but likely $100 - $250.

Anyone have experience with Audi backed warranties?

Thanks!

Yes my dealer told me to CPO the car we have to check tires and breaks and other things before it get approved, even if I have 1/3 if the pads good to go they have to replace it, same with tires.

my warranty will be expired in 2 weeks and I'm really thinking about having my car covered under warranty, here is the quote I got:

3000 fro the warranty
399 for the inspection CPO'ed + what ever parts need to be replaced

anyone got better rate from other dealers? my car is 2006 with 23k miles on it

I assume this is an aftermarket warranty? I am in the same boat. Warranty expires in 2 weeks on my 06 Carrera.

Wouldn't you have to pay tax again? Re-title it?

Sounds like your dealer likes the grey areas... Cool. Not mine.

Hi,

When the dealer quoted you the Audi backed warranty, was it underwritten by US Fidelity?

PorscheUSA is infamous around these parts
I originally considered CPO warranty- which would run about $3.5-4K for 2 additional years/60K mile coverage. This is a lot more expensive than extended warranty, about $3000 for 4-6 year/60K mile coverage.

I then asked several Porsche dealers in Southern California regarding extended warranty. One dealership offers policy from Easy Care. Two other dealerships offer Fidelity. Which is better? Easy Care or Fidelity? Any experience filing claims with either companies?

Thanks

I've found nothing but bad news about Fidelity, and nothing but positives abotu easy care. Check out this thread I started with some additional information.
