Feedback: LSD on a 997 C2S

Hi All,

I have a question for the group. I've been thinking about installing a LSD for my 997 C2S and I was wondering what everyone's experience has been with the upgrade? Major difference on the road or track? Better overall feel?

Thanks,

Carl

I have one but HAVE NOT installed it yet....but the concensus is is it makes a huge difference on the track.
I am sure that northvan997S will get in her and chime in about his and HE is a harsh 'TRACK junkie" and drives his car everday to work!

Thanks for the into Stacy, I think that the LSD is a must have on these cars. I wonder why Porsche didn't have this as a standard feature on these cars.

The primary difference is when you can start rolling back on the gas, with the LSD it is immediately, with the open diff, it is when the car starts settling down so that you can get some grip on both wheels.

Also a big help under high speed braking, keeps the rear end from wandering.

Sounds great guys, thanks for the feedback. How about in the wet (I live in Oregon after all)? Do you notice an improvement during daily wet-weather driving?

In the wet @ Little Talledega Racetrack during the 2009 One Lap of America we took down Gt-r's, Subies, & Evo's with a rwd GT2. Yes they work well in the wet

I see you are in Portland. You have 1 of the most knowledgeable Porsche experts in Steve Weiner @ Rennsport Systems. Even though I am on the east Coast he is my Guru.

I see your rain and I raise you! I am in Vancouver.

The LSD works be transferring the power to the wheel with the most grip. In the wet it is no different.

Very nice. So, what's the best Northwest shop to install the LSD? I talked to Jeremy at Matrix Integrated (my tuning shop) and he indicated that there weren't that many places in the Northwest that felt comfortable with the install. Where did you get yours done? What was the labor cost?

I have PSD on my car and I did not have LSD on my previous 2 Carrera S cars. For the street just driving around I can tell no difference really but at the track there is a difference under threshold braking because the rear does not wiggle around as mch and coming out of the turns I can throttle steer and get better grip.
