Quote: I hate to stereotype, but BMW drivers are among the biggest dicks on the road around here. The drivers is usually either a guys in their young 20's who think they're gods greatest gift to the earth or men going through a midlife crisis. I rank them among the likes minivan drivers who wish they were driving an F1 car.
I own a BMW and have to agree with this. The BMW forum I USED to frequent has many members with this kind of attitude. BMW used to be an enthusiast's car; now it's a car for those w/ who have money and need snob appeal

Snob appeal in BMW 3 series? Hmmm.....

Not trying to be a snob myself but to call regular good old teenage stupidity 'snob appeal' is not quite right, IMHO.

PS.
On a very sad side of this every second TV report about dead teenagers shows BMW wrapped around light post or a tree. Very sad indeed - stupid parents do buy their beloved stupid children 300horses powerplants and then wonder why they are doing what their are doing.

Spot on!

I think the Porsche community is far more mature. I agree with the attitude in BMW and even Mercedes forums. There is at least a new thread everyday about some kid who smoked another car at an intersection. I stopped visiting those forums long ago...

Nice to hear the whole story

as for my personal experience i find myself cut off more time by audi's and benz's the bimmer's these days. but i do agree that unfortunately good cars end up in the wrong hands all too often and the result is usually another sad news story.

First of all the speed limit is 40 not 45. That's 15 over. If he was stopped he would have been cited for racing because that's what anyone who witnessed it would have thought. I was doing 40 and he passed me like I was standing still. All I'm saying is he needs to exercise some caution when he is driving.

Tony,
Honestly, I am not sure what you saw! I was doing 55 MPH in a 45 MPH zone (yes its 45 not 40) which is honestly slow down here as most will be doing 60+ on PBL. I had an EVO behind me (who I do not know that just happened to be going to the same car meet) who I was not racing (why would I race a 300HP car with my 750HP car?) when I was almost hit by a truck (Ford Ranger) which forced me to swerve into the lane you were in and hit my brakes to avoid hitting both the Ford and your car. I was then almost hit by another car (again who I don't know) while stopped in a turning lane. I am failing to see how I was street racing or driving reckless? I am not going to argue with you as you obviously saw what you think you saw, but it was nothing like that. If you would like I can have my friend log in my account and post the experience from my passenger seat... He is West Palm Beach Police and patrols that paticular area, so he can at least clear up the speed limit discussion (and inform you of my speed and evasive manuver to avoid an accident) .
Best Regards,
Evan

PS- To everyone else, I appreciate you guys not jumping on the bandwagon and listening to my side of what really happened. I am not perfect and have done many stupid things on the road, but I save that type of driving for PBIR, Sebring, and Homestead! By the way for anyone in S. FL, PBIR nighttime HPDE Sept. 12th, come on out!!
