I Witnessed Reckless Driving by A Board Member Tonight!

As I was driving home from work tonight, I saw a white BMW M3 with the license plate "AMG ETR" speeding behind me then slam his brakes on while swerving across lanes. He then passed me along with a Mitsubishi Evo and an older BMW convertible. They were going WELL over the speed limit on a city street. As they were turning into a parking lot, the older BMW locked up his brakes and just missed hitting the M3.
I was upset to say the least, but chose not to follow them into the parking lot.
Exteremly immature behavior not to mention extremely dangerous. A very good way to kill an innocent person!

Angry

Hi Tony,
I appologize for what you witnessed! I was coming up behind you to check out the Carrera as I saw it ahead and haven't seen the new tail lights up close (LED's). I was coming up on you at 55mph (sorry thats 10 mph over the limit), when a Ford Ranger suddenly swerved into my lane almost hitting me! I had to swerve over a lane to avoid hitting him (and you). He also almost hit the EVO behind me! I then continued at the speed limit from there to pull into that shopping center where there is a car meet. I do not know that BMW, but I was scared to death that he was going to hit me when he came locking up the brakes behind me. He came up and appologized to me as I pulled in angry as hell asking who it was that almost hit me.

I can see how you would take this as wreckless driving, however, I never once exceeded 55MPH and only swerved to avoid being hit by a driver who did not see me in his blind spot coming up behind and also was almost hit by another driver. Wish things wouldn't have gone that way as I was simply trying to catch up to give you the thumbs up on the Gen II 997 Carrera, but that didn't happen.

Anyway have a great night!
Best Regards,
Evan

Basically cliff notes:

-Was doing 10MPH over speed limit
-Swerved to avoid being hit by a Ford Ranger who didn't see me and come into my lane
-Continued at speed limit / maybe 10mph over as I was a bit freaked out at the guy who just almost hit me
-Was stopped in a turning lane and was almost hit by crazy ******* in an old BMW who couldn't stop

Not sure what I did wrong, but sorry you feel that way!
Evan

I hate to stereotype, but BMW drivers are among the biggest dicks on the road around here. The drivers is usually either a guys in their young 20's who think they're gods greatest gift to the earth or men going through a midlife crisis. I rank them among the likes minivan drivers who wish they were driving an F1 car.

I guess this is a good thread to reference the next time someone asks "why should i blur out my license plate"? in internet pics.

To the original poster...Tony, you've never done anything in your car that was stupid or reckless? I know I have but much less so the older i get. I save it for the track. The next time you click over the speed limit or cut someone off in your carrera or charger i'm sure you'll think of this thread.

if you read the whole thread, the real AMG LOL guy actually posted in the thread claiming there never was a race, and that the OP lied in his kill story.

OP is never heard from again

I'll see and raise your stereotype and note that it's really guys in M3's - mostly coupes. At least in the Bay Area. They weave traffic and squeeze in to more tight slots on the freeway more than most.
And yes, I am trying to hijack this thread and change this subject.

Anybody in any sport car is much less dangerous on a road than beaten by life passive aggressive person in honda odyssey or similar wardrobe on wheels.
Sport car drivers at least try to look around, mostly, people in minivans do not look around at all.

Thumbs up

Thumbs up to "AMG ETR" for coming in here and explaining himself in a nice and composed manner. I know if I got called out on a public forum for something like this and I felt the OP didn't have all the facts before stating it, I'd be pretty upset and not respond as cool, calm, and articulate as "AMG ETR".

Nice job.

Nice job.
i agree with this, nice job indeed. seems like he has a pretty beastly car as well. hpf is serious business.

also, i have to agree with the whole bmw related to ****y drivers, but from my personal experience, it's mostly m3's and a handful of 3-series drivers. most owners of the m5's, m6's, x5's, x3's, etc around the north NJ area are either too old or a soccer mom.

btw, top gear, more specifically jeremy clarkson, said audi drivers are the new ****bags on the roads these days.

Just to be clear, we were not racing. I simply was passing him in the fast lane and he didn't want to play.
