CPO & PPI Inspection

so.... I'm looking at pickup a CPO 997 soon and am curious.
Should I have the car taken to another dealer to have a PPI w/ DME done?
Or is the fact that the dealer has it offered as a CPO equivalent to a PPI?

No need to worry about PPI with CPO. But you should get the DME report to see how the car was driven.

Is there a consensus on this? In the same boat as the original poster...

PPI is an inspection. CPO is an insurance. One got nothing to do with the other.

No need to take it to other dealer but get it done, check rev numbers to see if car was abused, speak to mechanic during PPI - it helps to learn car and see what is actually getting checked.

i only partially agree. a CPO car needs to meet certain criteria before it can be CPO'd and that could include body work, condition of the car, etc. I think that when you buy a CPO car, it is implicit that it is the cream of the crop

To be CPO'ed the car is inspected by the dealer certifying it. So the CPO should mean its been inspected AND is insurance.

That being said you can buy a CPO'ed car and for example it could have had parts repainted which the dealer may or may not tell you.

An outside inspection is not necessary but it doesn't hurt to have it done.
