Road Hazard Tire Coverage Contract -- Worth It??

Dear members:

When make my purchase for the C2S, the dealer try to sell me the "Road Hazard Tire Coverage", priced $999. Basic coverage is for 3 years for damage to the tire and wheel due road hazard, either by repair or replacement. I know the tires are expensive. But is this worth buying? Did anyone purchase this? What do you think? Thanks for your input.

Wow, that is expensive! I paid $449 for 60 months. I don't think I'd pay $999 for 36 months?

I paid $500 for the life of the car which covers both tires and wheels. Within the first month i picked up a nail in the front tire which was ~$350 to replace.... $999 sounds like a lot... offer them half and I bet they take it...

There is better deal. If you fill your tires with NitroFill, one of the benefits is "Tire Repair and Replacement." At this point, I do not know what the limitations are.

I have purchased in the past, but a few years back started out priced in the two hundreds and has been going up since. That was also for the life of the vehicle. They are discovering the actual cost. $999 for three years doesn't seem like the best of gambles to me.

Had this on my new Cayman S and then on my 997S too, I never used it on my Cayman but its saved me a fortune already on the 911.

I think it was around $1k and so far it got me 2 new rear tires when they were due to be changed anyway and then I got another new rear about 2k miles later from a blowout. Its already paid for itself, I'd never have a car without it again.

Not to mention, mine covers my HRE P40's as well!

I bought the wheel/tire warranty too -- 4 years of coverage for around $500. Had two tires replaced under warranty within first two years, so it obviously paid for itself . . . and then some. I wouldn't have paid $1000 for it at purchase time. Like someone else said, offer them about half and they'll probably take it.

I don't have it on my BMW 328 and haven't needed it yet. But those tires are cheap compared to my 997. I have Mich PS2s on the 997. I wish I had the tire/wheel coverage. I just put on new PS2s for $2000+ and one week later found a nail in a front tire. That's about $380 mounted. I'm willing to bet I'll find another one before they wear out. However, $999 sounds like steep insurance. More like a gamble. If it were closer to $500 I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I paid $700 for 60 months. Looks like others got even better deals. Already paid for itself, essentially. Had a flat and replaced the PS2. Worth it for me at least. But $999...looks like your dealer is trying to get more from you than what it really costs to purchase outside.
