09 PDK woild be the route to go . An 08 tiptronic leftover is less fun to drive plus is depreciating faster than a falling rock (given the success of PDK).
20 percent would be a good deal in my opinion.
Also explain to your buddy that the PDK will involve a bit of learning (even for a seasoned driver) . He may find the normal auto mode smooth and will feel a jerk in sport auto . This is normal adjusting and he will also find that he can play in manual mode too without ever worrying about stalling (if he can;t drive a stick).
My point is that PDK is a drivers car .
I am not sure how a "non car guy" buys a Porsche 911 . I might understand a Cayenne but not a 911 because it's a car designed for a person who loves driving

Good Luck
Can I ask if anyone is getting 1.9% with these price breaks or is it one or the other?
1.9% deal is porsche's infamous 10k incentive. You can stack it on top of dealers' 10-12% margins. You can either expect to get 1.9% OR 10k off but not both. Then, depending on a dealer and a car, you can eat into dealer's margin. Typically, 20% off deals leave dealers with no profit....

Wow, what an amazing time to be a buyer.
When is the 998 due to be out again? Since I already have a 997.1, I plan to hold out and see what the macro economic conditions might be like then; coupled with the rollout of the new model, that will be an interesting time to buy for sure. I dream of the 997.2 GT3 each and everyday.
