Technology and the 997

I posted this over on rennlist. Awaiting responses....
with the recent thread, 'is your car a keeper?', I began to wonder about the longevity of the newer Porsche's. In the last week, I've seen a 993 turbo, a Riveria blue 914, a gorgeous red Carrera and an 89 Tagra that are still on the road and enjoying life. I know some of their owners and they are perfectly content with the maintenance and upkeep involved with their cars. My car has PDK, will that be serviceable later on without a huge pricetag? Will we see the current generation on the road 20 years from now? I do love my current car, but probably once the warranty expires, I'll get another. Just my thoughts. I am interested to see what others' opinions are!

tedean is infamous around these parts
I was so excited when I finally drove off with my new 08C2S. I had thoughts of keeping it forever, and I might just do that. But I have always loved racing and rarely stay content. Now I am looking to upgrade to the GT3 purely for something that will take me around the track a little faster. So to answer your question, yes, I think every model year Porsche will have someone that will hold on to them forever, doing the required maintenance to keep them pristine. Some will move on and stay with more current models. However complicated our newer cars seem today, the ones in the future will make these seem more simple. Technology and people advance and our cars of today are frozen in time.

I will keep my Turbo forever ... or (better phrased) as long as it runs well. I will pamper the miles as best I can . It is my dream car.

My PDK 09 car will be a daily driver . Miles will pile up with time and with that comes wear and maintenance. I won't be the only driver. It's more like a pacifier for preserving my Turbo .
I will trade it in on the next hottie Porsche.
