Not that much of a surprise. You can barely give those car away to unsuspecting rich people. Very few people that know anything about the 997 and PDK would buy the car without SC.

Used prices

One way to get some idea of where the used models are going is on eBay. You can list the completed auctions in the eBay Motors section just as if you were looking for an open auction. 90% of them end without a deal, but the 10% that close (which show up in green) can give you at least some data points. I think you can go back a few months.

I have a two week old 2009 Targa 4S and got 20% off sticker. Feel pretty good about the deal. Traded in a 2001 C4 and feel ok about what I got on trade. Settled on the 09 price before we discussed trade value.

Been lurking on here for a while, but I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a 2009 C2S. Right now the dealer is quoting me about 14% off MSRP, and he won't go any lower. This certainly isn't as low as some of the deals you all seem to be getting. Should I walk, and take my business elsewhere even though the dealer is only two block away from where I live?

They even have one of the Aqua Blue Cab launch cars that I showed some interest in, and they will only go to $92,965 on that car.

If I don't get the deal I want, I am looking at a 2010 car at about $13k more than the offer I am getting on the 2009 (similar options).

Granted these are probably great deals on a new 997, but they are not looking too good compared to the 20% off I have seen here and on other forums.

If your not happy with the deal you walk and continue to shop around. After some time you will be able to tell if the deal on the table was really good or not.

I don't beleive everything people say on the forums but I do know that deals better than 14% off our out there on 09's.

But the car may not be what you want and it maybe worth 3-7% more to get just what you want.

But if your not getting the exact car you want...don't settle.

Some dealers have a different attitude on moving cars at lower prices than others. Yes, that does not seem like a deal.

If it were me I'd go online through the porsche.com site and start making a radius out from your location to check inventory if anything looks interesting to you, if so - call the sales manager and see what kind of deal they would make. Use that on on the local dealer or buy it away and have a great drive home.

14% off is a bad deal right now. Even on a very lightly options car, you should be able to get 17-18% if not more.

I suggest you do a wider search. I went on the Porsche USA web site, and looked at dealer inventories state by state, inquired about a few. One of the dealers in WA responded to my first e-mail with a 17% off offer, which eventually became 20%.

Keep looking.

If you want a silver 09 C4S 6MT, there was one in Beverly Hills Porsche last week or so, $117k msrp (tons of options) and the dealer was willing to cut more than $20k to start with.

I am starting to think that I may be leaning towards getting the 2010. Of the two dealers in the area that I have been working with one is giving me a little than 5% off MSRP on the 2010, and is saying about 3 months for delivery. Does that sound about right?

If you want an aqua blue cab launch car, look on ebay. Last time I checked there were dealers selling them new for $85K to $86K if I remember correctly. One had a 09 6mt c2s cab (?princeton porsche) meteor gray with anthracite wheels loaded with carbon fiber in the (I believe) high 80's as well - look in the completed listings section.

Keenan, call Legend in NY. They are asking 82-83 for an aqua launch car. Ask for Leslie.

but the aqua launch car/cab does not have SCP!!! big change for the PDK. You need to consider what you are buying vs. what the price is. If you want a manual trans, then ok, but for a PDK, you need the sports chrono!

Agree with you on the SCP, that is a big negative on that launch car, and why there are a ton of them sitting on the lot still.

I have attached what I would be looking at in a 2010 model, but I am also working on a 2009 coupe I found with a couple of extra options and minus Nav to see what kind of deal I can get.

That dealer is a fool to let you consider a 2010 for $13k more than the '09. He is going to be lucky to move the '09, especially since the 2010s are rolling in. There are dealers in my area with a dozen '09's. I'll bet that the 1.9% financing gets extended. Without incentives, these cars aren't going to move.

Until they really pull back supply, they may need to discount the 2010s as well. Interesting to hear they are even offering 5% on those. Big difference though, at the beginning of the model year it doesn't hurt to wait 6 months. They can hold them for a while and hope for a more significant recovery in sales.

Rye,

can you point me to taht dealer in NY that has a dozen 09's on the lot. Most of the dealers in NJ and Pa where I have been looking have little stock.

thanks
