Passenger Airbag

Hey guys, today when I got into my car and started it up a red sign flashed it was a body with an airbag, then a signal came onto the screen on the dash "Check passengers seat setting" and a picture of a person with an airbag. After I click the pass button a red exclamation sign comes onto the speedometer and stays the whole ride home. I then noticed near my shiftknob the "passenger airbag off" sign was lit up. When I got home I asked my girlfriend to sit in the passenger seat and the red exclamtion went away, but the "passenger airbag off" sign was still lit by the shift ****. I then asked her to get out, and again the "check passengers seat setting" sign came onto the dash....

Im not sure whats going on, has anybody ever had this happen to them? Can anybody explain why this happens, or whats making this happen? Im prob going to stop by the dealer, but I wont have time to get in till tuesday or weds, so maybe you guys can help me out ???? ANYBODY???

is there anyway to make that red exclamtion go away anyways?

Thanks Guys

similar thing happened to me today.
need to replace seat belt buckle and wiring harness. It seem OEM was silver, new is gold.

do both seats at same time. $280 parts $480 labor estimate

seems to be NO work around other than DIY, parts cheapest at Vertex, about $20 cheaper than dealer.

JohnAMG is infamous around these parts
I had this happened few months ago. If I remember it correctly, it was the passenger seat was pushing on an object in the back or an obstuction of its movement that triggered the sensor. The warning light went away after I got ride off the obstuction. I hope this is your case.

John
