XM navigation after 3 months
I couldn't find a deal other than getting both nav and radio together - I think I did 3 years. The longer you go (up to 5 yrs I think), the lower the rate. I like it though and am enjoying the radio far more than I imagined. My BMW 550i had Sirius (somehow free for my entire lease - an oversight I think) and it sounded so bad I could never listen to it, but the 911's XM is not bad at all.
I went with the 3-month plan and they bill me per quarter, in case i get tired of it. The radio part pretty much stays on Laugh USA, but I find the Navtraffic part useful for avoiding jams.
So,what does it cost?
That's why I did 3 yr - not that it saves that much more, but its like swallowing the pill and I'm done with it. Whereas shelling out $15 /mo (more actually if by the month) would have become a really annoying reminder of what BS it is
- nice BS
, but BS none the less.
Now the pain is over, and I can just enjoy for a while - kind of like buying the car.

wife had the XM in her old car and now sirius in her new one and hates it. Does anyone know if you can get XM through a radio set up for sirius? Does it just need reprogramming?
It's all relative. I spend about $70/month for the "privilege" of driving on the toll roads in Central Florida in my commute to work and about that amount in gas each week. Have you looked at the taxes and fees in you phone and cable bill lately? Those are outrageous. I'm even being charged each month by Florida Power and Light for a nuclear plant that they have no plans to build.
The main reason that I went with the quarterly plan was to have the ability to opt out in case XM's financial issues escalate. At the time I signed up, they were on shaky ground. Having them bill me also avoid another money "tick" on my bank and credit card accounts. Of course, XM adds a "fee" for that inconveniece (to them).

Its about $9/mo for the navtraffic service.. and I don't think there is any bulk discount for that. Thats to get the traffic data feeds to your car.
The radio bits cost based on the plan you choose and the duration. I went with the cheapest (music only) for one year. Cost would be lower if I gave them my credit card.. but I'd rather pay them as I go by check.
