On the two slower runs, my tires had significant slip, to the point of traction control kicking in. I also had 3/4 tank of gas and ~40 lbs worth of books and bags. Had the weather been more accommodating and I prepped more carefully, I think sub 12's would have been possible.
12 sec is a fabulous time for a non turbo! Next time try turning off the traction control. Remove any excess weight and baggage(and books). In cold weather you MUST heat the tires with a burnout. Always drive around the wet box with street tires. Don't want water sitting in the treads of the tires causing more slippage. also play with the tires psi..takes practice.

What means JUST OVER 12 seconds ?

12.1 or 12.3 ? What exactly ?

After watching the BMI video several times, I think high 11's (11.78 to 11.9's) or low 12's (12.05 to 12.25) would be realistic

So, what was your exact time, please ?

I saw a guy with a 997.1S with X51 airbox, X51 throttle body and IPD plenum modified to fit X51 throttle body along with 200cpi cats, X51 headers and a tune (forget which one) but he ran a 12.2 @ 116mph, I was impressed.

This goes back to the lack of no LSD in 997.1 cars and good luck doing a burnout in these things. The axle will hop so badly its not funny.

New England Dragway up in NH. Every Friday and Wednesday night, just show up, pay $20, and you can make as many runs as you can fit in. You'll likely be one of the only imports there, but everyone was very friendly and willing to give pointers and chat.

As for my exact times, I can't find the slips, but from memory it was a 12.2 and ~120MPH trap.

Your list of cars does not include a Porsche. Huh... I wonder why you bother to post here.

Porsches are not designed for the drag strip. I could care less what its 1/4 mile time is.

He just wanted to share with us the superior Viper he has. I had a 2006 E55 and I loved the raw straight line power of that beast. But Porsche is more competent in every aspect, and comparable straight line with my 06'E55. One thing Corvette and Viper don' have is back seat. My 6 & 4 year olds love cruising with daddy, and for me that is priceless.

High 12's is a great time for a Porsche IMO!

Read what he said again. He said he was just over 12 seconds, which is way better than high 12s.

hey viper guy

Welcome to the Porsche forum buddy, I personally love when people troll to other forums and bring up some friendly jibber and own a different car then the forum they are in. Asking questions to owners of the forum they are in, share their experience and yes even some llight humor/jabs...

welcome to the hood

I guess I made a mistake in trying to inject some friendly humor on what appears to be a somewhat serious forum. Never said one car is superior than another. And for those that posted sarcastic remarks..hey it's America guys. You can post whatever you like...actually makes me chuckle. For those that were friendly and chuckled along with me...glad to be part of your porsche family...I take delivery of an '09 911 'S' black/black PDK, sports chrono on Monday!!
