Shifter shavings

Today I came to change my shifter to my winter shifter (i know that sounds funny but Alcantara is warmer than aluminum in the winter)

Anyways, upon lifting up the leather i noticed all these plastic shavings, like something is rubbing

Anyone else ever see this? I can only assume this isn't normal

I also had this when I put on my alc shifter, at first i thought it was from me pulling off the boot but seeing your makes me think otherwise.

Totally normal.
I can't tell if it's graphite lubricant or worn off plastic, but it's normal.

Did you have any trouble pulling off the shifter after twisting the lock? Mine won't seem to come off

The winters get cold here in Canada I usually do the whole winterize in Nov (winter tires/winter mats, put my ice scrapper in the car,etc...) but just had the itch to change the shifter today
