Winterize

Can anyone recommend a good place to get the OEM Porsche Battery Maintainer and a indoor car cover? Preferably a place selling at a discount.

Thanks

Anyone willing to forgo the Porsche logo on the charger-- it's here at almost half the price. CTEK Multi US 3300 and Cigarette Adapter http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/c...ttery_Chargers

Are you planning on driving the car at all during the winter or just very infrequently?

Great thread, I was thinking of the same myself. Not too long ago there were a couple of threads about some "pads" you could buy to park on to avoid flat spots on your tires, can anyone link me, I have done a couple of searches and come up with blanks.

Too bad the weather in Calgary during the winter doesn't allow for the DD of your Porsche, I hope to drive mine all winter!

Here is your link http://www.tirecradle.com/

+1 on that. The 3300 is the the same in every way to the Porsche unit with the exception of the logo sticker. Pricey sticker if you ask me.

No even though I am going to miss the hell out of driving it.

Tempting if I had a 4S with winter tire/wheel pkg. I see a few 4S's around my area driving through the winter. I don't think I could handle hearing the road salt hitting the car. Not to mention the low ground clearance. I know some people drive on clear days, but technically speaking summers are not designed for freezing temps.

Looking at a 2010 Audi S4 to replace my BMW should get me through the winter just fine.

This will be my first winter storing my 997 (I know I CAN drive it in the rainy season in Vancouver NorthVan997C2S- but I have another car for a DD) but when I had my Boxster I inflated the tires to 50 psi and parked on 2 layers of carpet squares or underlay to minimize flatspotting. It worked very well, and I'm planning on doing the same with my 997.

Ok...wow they are $400 Cdn....I know PS2's are expensive and worth protecting them but that is a bit expensive. Anyone have any ideas on some "pads" that are more reasonably priced vs the tire cradle or a DIY. I read about guys using dense carpet underlay and then strips of carpet 4-5 layers....might be an idea.....

I have yet to try it myself, but from what I hear, the weight over the rear wheels is enough to make the C2/S into a more then capable car for the winter. After seeing some footage of 2WD GT3's in winter rallying, almost all doubts were dismissed.

From what I understand, these cars are intended to be driven year round in all conditions - it's one of the things that sets them apart from other supercars. Yes, if it is actively snowing or recently stopped, you would probably be well advised to select a different car. However, if the streets are plowed and clear, I don't see an issue.
