I have installed a Dension GW 500 in my 997.
I wonder how I get random on all songs/artists/albums on my USB, and not just random on a specific artist/album?

If I connect both Iphone and USB to my Dension it should be possible to switch between these sources with CD6, but it does not work. I have not the possibilities to chose between sources
How do I get this option working?

I just installed a new to me Gateway 500 on my PCM 2.1. I can get everything to work but it seems to cut in and out when I add new songs to my USB drive. It will cut in and out on ALL sources. It seems to cut in and out for about 3-5 seconds. It does this every 3-4 minutes. Is that the gateway just adding the songs to the gaetway 500 directory? It works just fine once it has found all the songs. I have tried to use the gateway Windows Indexer but that doesn't seem to help???

 

I found my problem. It seems that the Dension unit did NOT like the Emprex USB flash drive I was using. It works just fine with my other flash drives. I tried reformatting the drive and still no love. So stay away from Emrex USB drive or maybe mine it goofy.

I cannot find the 12v cd changer harness (i have no changer).

Just what I needed

 

I am going to be installing the Gateway 500/BTA1500 inside the cabin so I can have the ipod and mic routed inside easier. Does anyone have a picture of what wires I should tap into for power (near the glove box)?

 

I don't know if the 997 has the phone plug under the radio like the 996 but that it what I would use if it does. It has constant on and switched on power at the plug.

 

There is a 12V plus input under the glove box. Is that what you are referring to? I assume that has constant power. I know that the unit needs power even when the car is turned off.

 

I like this spot because you can easily access the switch on the Dension which comes in handy when you need to go in for maintenance so that there computer thinks everything is normal and the CD Changer is connected. There is plenty of cable on the iPod/iPhone connector that comes into the cabin and if you need to connect the bluetooth interface is connects via a splitter from that one cable that comes thru the firewall. The power under the hood is easily reachable to tap in to as well from the CD Changer.

 

I had what I thought was this unit installed when I first bought my car in July of '07. Mine doesn't control as thoroughly as the video in the first post shows. I can only browse by playlist. The other roots (aritst, album, etc.) show up but I can't select them. Can I have the software on the dension updated? I also can't select the other two inputs. Does something have to be plugged into the inputs before I can select them? Car is 997.1 TT with Navigation.

No ideas? Might I upgrade the software on the unit? Am I controlling it incorrectly?

 

Has anyone installed this in a 911 with the non PCM head unit, if so can you post or PM some pictures of the display during ipod navigation?
