[quote=CYi1;2620961]Thanks for all of the info guys.
I was looking through some Porsche dealers in Cali and came across this one:

]

I think it would be foolish to buy that car - you can get pretty much the same for $10,000 less if you look around ...

Example: Luxury Motors in Las Vegas has 2006 911S Cabrilolet with 20,000 miles for $56k (cabs are typically $5000 more)

Sports Trend Auto Sales has a 2006S with 35k miles for $49k and a second S Cab with 50k miles for $48.

Results are just from a very quick Autotrader search ...

Well I figured it is a CPO and it has the options I'm looking for..Navi, Aero kit, and it even had the ceramic brakes. The car is already sold though, so I'll have to keep looking.
I'll probably buy a black or white S and just add the aero kit myself.

I just found mine after a few months of searching.

I used ebay, autotrader, CraigsList(there are a few services that search the entire CL, rather than one by one), and cars.com.

Just be patient, the price is only going to your favor the longer you wait...

kbb has a subscription service that finds you cars ... just be patient, you will potentially need three months to find the perfect car at the right bargain.

Here is the deal though - keep us posted on what you are doing, bunch of people thinking about you here ,,,,

Independent lots generally survive by offering attractive prices . I do think you may want to read a few posts on some forum member experiences with their purchases . There are quite a few on the 996 Turbo forum.

I'm finding some really good deals using HanksHelper.com since it searches all of the major listing providers. You're right about the independent dealers. They sell at kbb prices or even a thousand or two below. I'll probably go through one of them after getting the car checked out.

It's hard finding one with the Aero kit, Sports Chrono, 6-speed, and either black or white with black or grey interior. If I can find a sweet deal on one without the aero, I'll probably buy it and add the kit afterwards.

I looked at your region and was stunned by how high the prices were . In contrast i was looking in Southern California for a forum member who wanted my opinion and found a few cars but since he asked I won't post them .

There is one which I will because he didn't want PCCB but this black car really caught my eye and it has an aerokit too. Wow -- i just went to pull it up for you and it's sold !!!!! Yikes!!!

The prices were significantly higher in the Southeast compared to So.Cal. on thse used cars . You may have to travel but what you save to buy the car you'll spend in out of state expenses . California may set the trend .. you might decide to wait . Time is on yoir side.

I'm waiting for my Pen Fed check to come in the mail but I'm in the process of buying an 06 C2S for $45 -- full leather, sport chrono, navi and 32K miles. I waited about 2 months to find the right car at the right price. I can't PM you (not enough posts) but if you PM me your email address I'll send you the autocheck. Good luck with the search!

That is a pretty screaming deal for a C2S. It has somewhat higher miles than many, which may have made the deal so good. Great that you got a great buy and a good car. Not sure that would be a typical price in today's market though.

Not really sure that you would ever get that listed car for $10k less. A cab may be more, but an aerokit adds over $5k to the new cost and they usually sell for a premium. Not to mention the PCCB's, which are very rare and would certainly add value to the car. I would even reach to say it was a pretty good value in the mid 50's. Not to mention the CPO, which adds another $2k. That is a rare car with the benefit of the extra warranty. Didn't it also have a fire ext.? You really need to check out a car like that in case it was driven by a track junkie. Basically doubles the wear on the car for every mile it has on the clock.

Indi dealers can be interesting, but most of the cars I looked at on indi lots were either repaired wrecks or were 3 owner cars. In looking there are 3 choices, PP, indi or dealer. PP cars could end up in either place when traded. The weaker PP cars are often traded in. The best stay at the dealers, the lesser ones are wholesaled. THe wholesaled ones go to indi dealers. You pay the most for the dealer cars since they will stand behind them and they offer a warranty. All depends on how well you can inspect a car and how much third party comfort you need.
Good luck with the search.

As a thought I got my 2008 base Carrera in July of this year with 10,000 miles on it for $58k. Never was titled - dealer demo & PCNA car. Black/black non CPO. Xenon, Bose, Nav, std 18" rims, power-seats, self-dim mirrors. Keep in mind you can upgrade a few things after you buy it for sometimes cheaper.

Lots of Porsches at 40,000 miles are quicker than they were when new. Therefore if you allow proper warm-up, even if the car has been tracked it shouldn't be a big deal, as long as it was serviced at good intervals - and check those brake pads b/c the brakes also get a good workout on the track.

I also read that the GT3 and development 4.0 flat-six engines are this way; quicker after some harder mileage.
