I don't know about the .2 mufflers but I did it on my car and it's awesome, IMO unless you want to save wait the aftermarket mufflers are pointless, the power comes from the cats anyways.

I had FisterD do the hack to my 997.1 mufflers and couldn't be happier! Best bang for the buck mod by far. If you are looking for a little more volume but still not be offensive this is a great mod. Not sure about how it will affect the .2 cars but if it's anything close to a .1 this mod is a no-brainer.

FlimFlam, what is the base for your opinion?

Thanks
Nice car +plate btw

I figured since its a cheap mod+stock mufflers are always available+i have no intentions in selling this car+like others, i dont believe that mufflers can produce a substantial amount of power then why not try it out. If i like it, that would be amazing considering the price, if not, then not much lost in th e process. Better than buying a set of mufflers and deciding you dont like them later on.

Friend has on 997.2

2" pipe. Sounds great like PSE but not as aggressive as hack on 997.1. Add a center delete pipe and more aggressive sounding than 997.1 hacked.

I was planning on adding a center delete if the hack didnt achieve what i had in mind(sound level wise).

the X pipe'd center pipe makes a more euro sound,
the separate center pipes make more of a deeper v8 sound in my opinion.

the side hacks give it that "weezing" and "burbly" sound ... adds some throatyness like the PSE does..

the side delete pipes were too loud imo... not as loud as 997.1 side deletes but still very loud.

do the side hacks.. if you want it louder but muscle'y add the separate center pipes... if you want louder and higher pitched like a 430 get the X pipe'd center delete..

let us know how it turns out..

most say "dont go cheap on the 90k+ car"

but i personally have heard tons of different cars and the gundo hack just sounds ideal to me, it almost does was PSE does but for a fraction of the price... low rpm's the car is calm and mellow... wont upset anyone and even the most **** will not complain, above 4k rpms it opens up slowly and lets you hear the engine more.. ... just a welcome addition to any porsche 997 imo.

the center delete pipe i would say is hit/miss, as in a cab some would say too loud, in a coupe not noticed as much... friend has a coupe 997.2 with X pipe center delete and hacked sides and i hear the car and go WOW i wish my 997.1 would sound like that.. my 997.1 hacked is throatier. his is more euro sounding.

Keep in mind that the 997 and 997.2 are completely different animals when it comes to exhaust sound. We've had almost every configuration of 997 exhaust on our previous 997 shop car, and have gone through testing of every single option available on our new 997.2 shop car. At no point has the 997.2 come even close to sounding like a 997 until our most recent system, which is Cargraphic side mufflers with Cargraphic center-exit muffler delete pipes.

If you're looking for a just a little extra sound, I would suggest looking into the Cargraphic TUV Sound version side mufflers. They will give you just a bit more aggressive sound but are perfect for daily driving.

Doing the Gundo hack on a 997.2 will come nowhere near duplicating the same sound results as it does on a 997. The DFI motor has a totally unique and different sound then the previous non-DFI engine.

I agree...unfortunately to the detriment of the 997.2. I heard a stock 997.2S and I thought it sounded more flat than the 997.1S. I have heard the full setup from FVD on a 997.2S and it sounded much more what I was used to.

Cargraphic setup is only mufflers I believe...are they going to be coming out with a cat setup as well?

Are you sure you dont have the x pipe and crossover pipe mixed up ? judging by the videos, the crossover sounds higher pitched than the x pipe...

Thank you all for your contributions, i am taking the risk i will report back on thursday(fingers crossed)

Cargraphic has had cats out for the 997.2 for months now.

I would spend the money, do it right, a full system upgrade, pipes, cats mufflers, and a tune, you will never look back!

It really depends what sound you're looking for. Tubi and Cargraphic are very unique and different from each other. The Cargraphic system has a deeper, more aggressive tone, while the Tubi system retains some of that characteristic Porsche "rasp" and carries a slightly higher tone.

We've done several Cargraphic Super Sound Export side mufflers on the 997.2 and it's by far my favorite sound so far, both inside and outside the car.

Thanks for starting this thread. I have a 997.2 C4S and an X-Pipe and it still isn't nearly loud enough. I am thinking about the Gundo Hack on the side mufflers and I am really looking forward to your comments after you do yours. Thanks for taking the "leap" - it sounds like it will work out good!
