it`s the usual end for any luxurious non-profitable brands - to become nice looking ford taurus from inside, with inherited ford taurus reliability.
Yep i think you're right. I'm in denial.

I know what you meant about keeping the 911 true to it's history, but for Porsche to remain at the top they are going need to continue to advance the car.
Yep I here what your saying, I hope your right.
not sure about quality though. i happen to own 2 VAG products right now and they're money pits, everthing goes, stupid stuff too. The 2 PAG's have fantastic realiability.

Will this change if parts are readily interchangeable ??

Ooops

If corporate VW will not press Porsche to put VW Golf engine into 911 we probably may not loose sleep over this merge.
THat is my nightmare

Sean@VF is infamous around these parts
This will be a good thing for sure. We have already seen the Lambo stamps on the Audi R8 transaxle units. Change is a good thing sometimes!

I have had a number of little things on my Touareg, but they seem to have won the battle, for now...but the other 5 VW/Audi products over the past 10 years have been almost perfect. I have owned my Touareg since 05, and just bought a 4 year warranty extension as it isn't a matter of if, it is when and how much, and I won't own this vehicle without a warranty.

Every car manufacturer has there problems, Porsche has RMS issues, and Audi has drive train issues, but the end of the day you have to decided which problems you want to live with, and which ones you can't.

I will agree with you about Porsche, the car is a rock, I drive it hard, and I have yet to make a warranty claim on it.

The main issue is not VAG but with the suppliers. GKN-Lobro has made the joint boots for all German makes for ever. To be fair, it's not even really their fault. In European Union, they have Green laws requiring a high percentage of recycled materials to be used in all new plastic and rubber products. Thats why the rubber and plastic parts are not lasting as long as they used to. Nothing beats virgin plastic and rubber. Recycled materials degrade far faster and just about every auto maker is using them for cost and for environmental conservation. To my mind, however, how much more earth friendly is it when you have to replace a recycled material part 2 times to one?
Thanks for the explanation. That is more than anybody at Audi would explain to me. It is still an Audi problem.

What is really irritating is the Audi Customer Service says there is know one at Audi who can explain why it failed to me, they rely on their dealers. I have called and written a letter with the same lousy response.
The dealer says it is not within the parameters to be warrantied by Audi.
They want $660 to fix this. I could buy new axles for a Nissan Maxima and have them installed for less than $400.00. Parts are $50.00 and I can do it myself but that is not the issue.

How earth friendly is it to let all the grease from the joints spill out on to the earth? Let alone the cost of replaceing the parts which they don't cover directly. But they will because I won't buy another one of their products.

Horrible customer service, putting the customer in the middle with no logical explanation.
