yrralis thanks for posting that clip from Youtube, that video is over 2 years old now but still I can still remember filming that day----what a great day that was with the 993 Turbo.

Myfootsmells: the price of the 996 Turbo is unbelievably low for a high-horsepower Porsche, however the mod bug will destroy your wallet once you get rolling on the Turbo. The 997 S has the best interior and is great for a daily driver and will also hold it's value more that the 996 Turbo.

Depends on what you want to do with it.

Get the 996 turbo if you:
Need to beat the guy next to you from a standing start
Have the modification bug
Don't really care about aesthetics

Get a 997 C2S/4S:
Prefer a tight ride more like the older cars
Need a little extra room (6'2" and up)
Want a CPO
Want the lights to look like they are supposed to

Personal opinion...unless you need 4wd, get the 997 C2S. You will not regret the choice...

Latest generation is a leap forward in many ways, including styling, so I'd go with the 997S. CPO would definitely make the decision even easier.

ops, how did I get to this forum

I love the 996 Turbo! But drive both and see what you like better. Its only a matter of what you like best in the end.

+1, that is the best way to figure out what car is best for you.

Also should be noted that you will probably be happy with either. They are both incredible cars, albeit for different reasons. As mentioned, test drive to compare as much you can.

Yeah, both of those observations are very obvious, but the point is it shows just how high the performance level is now of the S with PDK and the new engine. To pretty much hang with a 996 Turbo all the way to what seemed to be 130+ mph is pretty amazing.

so i drove the c2s and i must say i enjoyed it more than the 996 tt. however, it was mainly because of the shifting. i think i read some where where you're able to change the shifter in a 996 to 997?

it was a quick car but no where near the 996 and that still concerns me. also, like most have said the interior you just can't compare the 997 is newer and cleaner. ahh decisions decisions..
