i think that's why mine is so much. you had warranty left but if i buy from Porsche they'll give me 2yrs/100k miles again.

When I was shopping for mine a couple of months ago, the Porsche dealer was always several thousand above what I could get from a private party. I don't understand why such a large gap? I asked myself is the several thousand worth the CPO? Why not get a PPI from the dealer and buy a 3rd party service contract? There's a lot of good 1-owner well kept cars out there from private parties.

Probably. But, there will be more that may come your way. I took 2-3 months to find mine.

the reliability does scare me a little on the 996 since it's a 2002.... aslkdjfklajsdlfjsdf

The 997 Carrera's still have the IMS issues according to the head mech. at my local Porsche dealer. He told me it wasn't until the 08-09 models that the issue had been fixed. I found that hard to believe that Porsche wouldn't have fixed that problem before releasing the 997s but he is a great mechanic.

09 models, yes, b/c the 997.2 engine was a major redesign, they eliminated the IMS. 06-08 models was just a bearing update and did not completely fix it, but made a huge step up in reliability. Very few IMS failures from these engines, but only time will tell when people put more mileage on the cars... I know I'm susceptible even with a new engine with updated bearings. So I'm taking precautions by changing the oil more frequently than the 20k recommended service.

When I bought mine a few months ago there were other cheaper options and in the end the dealer option with cpo was the best for me. It isn't going to take many minor issues that are covered under warranty before I make up the difference. All this and I still got BRAND new tires allaround ($2000 at cost-I saw the invoice) as well as another $2000 in maintenence service.

Plus you get to build a relationship with a dealer and roadside assistance never hurts. I would hope that resale. Value of a dealer serviced cpo car will be strong too.

I will dedfinetly buy cpo Cars going forward.
