Best bang for your buck mod...Intake Plenum?
Actually the test results and Dyno Charts from this thread show that there was no gains at all from the Plenum, alone or with other exhaust/intake mods present on a 997.1C2S.

+1 no gains
C'mon guy's......this whole thread has turned into an exhaust/plenum debate. You mean to tell me that an ECU flash isn't a sure thing? as an option? Read all the threads about EVOMSit or any other vendor......w/dyno information. I've not done x-cat but have done exhaust, headers, intake, software and suspension. I have no regrets for doing any of it. The software flash and suspension gave me the best, most noticable overall performance/handling gains. Intake and exhaust gave me the exhaust tone I was looking for.
Just some of my insight.
Just some of my insight.
Look at a power (HP and TQ) graph, and ask yourself this: where does "x mod" add power? Does it make the line higher from 0-7600 RPM's? Or does it make the power line higher from 7400-7600 RPM's?
When a manufacturer advertisers "+10hp", where is it? Is it at 7600 where it's useless, or at 3200 when you're lugging the engine, and it's useless, too? Is it peak, or is it across the RPM range from 3,200 to 7,000?
Come on, wake up! Where does it matter? I don't care what my peak HP is if I can't run at that RPM. If I have 8 gagillion HP at 7,600 RPM, great. Will I ever run at that range for more than an instant? Nope. Neither do I want a zillion HP at 1,200 RPM's. Personally, I'd want a midrange increase- say from 4,500-7,000 RPM's. Give me solid HP gain in that range, with no loss down low, and I'd be happy.
But the generic claims of "+20HP" for a muffler, or "+27HP" on a plenum- sure, where? Is it usable HP for how I drive?
This is why I say the AWE cats, which add power across the band, and sound, for $1,600 are a great deal. Or the LWFW, which adds HP across the band by reducing parasitic drag through the drivetrain at all RPM's, or a Supercharger which adds HP across the range, are the best you can get, and are all proven.
You will find nay sayers for the cold air intakes, plenums, ECU's, mufflers, headers, filters, etc. You won't find a single nay-sayer when it comes to adding power when it comes to the AWE cats, LWFW, or SC.
