Bluetooth Handsfree Retrofit? on 997 '09 with PCM3

Has anybody retro fitted the Bluetooth handsfree function to their '09 or later 997 with PCM3?

Does anybody know what's involved in the installation? e.g. Part numbers etc...

Do all 09+ 997s (PCM3) come out with wiring + microphone installed and its just about activating the function using PIWIS or is there actual wiring and installing mics involved?

Please help~~~~~~~~~~~~

I looked into this too having ordered my car without the bluetooth option. You can buy the OEM kit from Suncoast Porsche for $695 but you'll need to shell out at least a couple of hundred more to get it going. There is hardware to install and it must be activated using PIWIS. I'm not sure if the Durametric system will allow you to activate it or not. I was told the installation and activation runs about 2-1/2 hours labor and that the PCM unit has to come out.

I personally decided against it since I'm not a very big cell phone user in the first place and I have very nice Jawbone bluetooth headset for those times that I absolutely must make a call from the car.

Do you know if it is just a module that needs to be installed or do they have to run a new microphone too? I guess it boils down to if there is a built in mic with every car as it leaves the factory.

Thanks.

yeah apparently and contrary to what we'd think as logical the microphone is only installed in cars with the option - at the end I installed the full techquipment module and it included the microphone. You also need a 16 digit activation code (the suncoast module comes with it) that's provided from Stuttgart based on your VIN.

BTW, I think the blutooth handsfree module is by far the best money invested in my car to date!!!! I can't live without it. The sound quality is ok (need to close all windows + sunroof) and the people on the reception end never complained (echo, howling, sense of being distant etc) and usually do not know that I'm taking the call in the car.

Good Luck.

How easy was the install? Where did you install the control unit and where did you route the mic?
