What a letdown
What a letdown
I used seat warmers one time in my entire life . Now I have jokingly teased a few passengers over the years as they chose to use them in my car. Well South Florida got cold . Yesterday tied a record low and there were reports of snow flurries on the news . Today is equally as cold. It's miserable . I want my warm weather life back.
Anyway today after lap swimmimg (indoors) the only motivation driving me from the warmth of the building to my parked car what the thought that I would use my seat warmers . I have them in my Turbo .I had them in my 05 launch car. I just assumed that all sports adaptive seats have them .
I didn't have a jacket , hair was wet but it was only 50 yards or so to my parked car . How bad can it be in 42 degrees ? After all I have seat warmers !!!
Man was I wrong !!! I get in the car and its dark . Forget the thought of reading an owners manual . I search for the buttons and there were none.
I start the car and cold air blows out . Apparently I have it set to air conditioner . Not good .
So I have no seat warmers and the one time I actually needed them I was letdown. It's funny how a missing option is viewed in that moment .
Can they be installed? Probably not worth it . Anyone live in the cold without them?

Larry, I am not sure if I feel bad for you, seat warmers are nice but spend enough time in the colder climates and you will learn to deal with it. I have seat warmers, but didn't reinstall my *** and left my track seats in this winter. BTW it was almost 60 degrees up in Vancouver today.
Larry, I am in Orlando where the thermometer on my Carrera S was reading 19 degrees Fahrenheit this morning! Was this accurate? I cannot be sure but the one thing I am sure about is that the puddles of water left during the night by some neighbors' sprinklers were frozen this morning. Even at 10 in the morning there were remnants of frozen puddles in areas where the Sun wasn't hitting them directly.
By the way, my Adaptive Sports Seats are heated and I ordered the car this way because it's not the only time I've experienced sub-30 degree weather here. Miami is always a few degrees warmer but I can see how you would have wanted them this time.

They are very nice to have when you need them.. I laughed about my 09 335 having a heated steering wheel.. Until i actually used it when i was freezing and i thought to myself, WOW now this is sweet!!!

Luckily my C2S has them. Honda did not offer them as an option on the S2000.
We had a local group buy from a vendor in Seattle that charged $300 to equip the S2000 seats with heaters.
Pretty easy install from what we could see:
Remove seat - remove cover - install heating elements - run wires and install switch.

My seat warmer doesn't matter in the light of all this but it is the only on topic (Porsche related ) aspect of this cold .
I don't think you can retro-fit them but I'm not 100% sure.
I wouldn't own a car with leather seats without seat warmers up here. I probably use my seat warmers around 5 months out of the year!

I may consider it since the car is so new. Thanks.
There's a lot more going on with the Porsche seats - airbags, motors etc... Not sure how difficult it would be but that would have been a good time to install the grids.
Hope your cold snap is over soon!
