Battery charger

I have a CTEK model US 800 battery charger which is currently set up to be connected directly to the battery terminals. I would like to convert it so that I
can plug it into the cigarette lighter or other outlet. CTEK offers a plug adapter but states that it must be plugged into an outlet that is wired directly to the battery and not through the fuse box. Is is it logical to assume that if the cigarette or other outlet is hot when the car is off, then it is wired directly to the battery and not through the fuse box? Thanks.
(2005, Carerra 2 S).

I am not aware of any electrical connection on a car that's directly wired to the battery accept maybe the starter motor. I think what they mean is a circuit that's always hot like the cigar lighter or aux power outlet. I have a CTEK that's the next step up from yours and plug it to aux outlet, just a cigar lighter socket without the lighter, located on the passenger side. Works great and I have had no issues. I don't believe their any any significant differences from one CTEK to other when it comes to charging the car so this work equally well for you.

Thanks for the feedback. It makes sense to me that if the plug is hot when
the car is off, then the plug-in charger should work. I'll give it a try and send
a follow up later.
