New Mod - Leather PDK Shift Trim

My 997.2 has two-tone full leather interior, but as you all know, the PDK shift trim is plastic (for the car this price, everything should have been in premium leather). So I decided to upgrade it to the leather PDK trim. I bought it from Suncoast and was very surprised when I was told that there was ONE from the Porsche Parts Depot in Atlanta (these are usually custom ordered and would take 6 to 8 weeks to order). Aaron was able to secure the only one in the depot for me (thanks Aaron - you rock!) I placed the order on Thursday last week and the part came in this afternoon! It took about 35 minutes to swap out because I was being extra careful to not scratch anything else around the area.

It looks so much nicer now, and matches the radio surround trims. I love the double contrast stitching around the trim.

These are the BEFORE pictures:

And here are the AFTER pictures:

Nice. That is the way it should have come from the factory.

Was the price after the fact similar to what it would of cost if you had ordered it with the car?

Thumbs up Excellent look.

My car has full leather interior with the complete deviated stitching package and after having driven it for 850 miles I could have sworn that the PDK trim was leather on mine with the deviated stitching. Wow how wrong was I. Just came back from the garage checking out this area in my car and was brought back to ground reality... it is indeed "cheap plastic". I really love what you've done with yours. Looks really sharp and blends very well. Can I get one in my interior color (dark grey natural leather with silver white deviated stitching), where would I order it, what price am I looking at and how easy is it to install ?

That looks fantastic, excellent choice!

woot....I'm sure we could custom order natural grey, but it will probably come with grey stitching.

If you order it with the car, it's $390, but if you buy it after purchase (e.g. from Suncoast), it's $349.95
It might take a while to order from Suncoast (because usually the part has to come from Germany), but I got lucked out.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I really love the way it compliments the interior.

There is a collar at the bottom of the **** that has to be turned counter-clockwise, then you pull the **** up to remove.

First, you have to put the gear shifter into N or D position (pull the hand brake, turn the ignition key, depress brake, and shift into N or D, then turn key to off). This will make it a lot easier to turn the collar.

If you look at the pictures below (courtesy of stevepow - thanks Steve!), you'll see the collar at the bottom of the ****. You'll need to turn it counter-clockwise, and once it's turned, slowly and gently pull up the ****. Don't pull too hard or you'll hit the rearview mirror.

Do you have any full shots of the interior? I also have the two-tone Black/Beige interior and have considered adding the leather PDK trim, but not sure if I want it in Beige or Black. My center console is also beige, but I'm wondering if the contrasting colors would make it a little more distinctive.

Hope this helps. I think Beige would look best as you don't want too much contrasting colors around the center console (e.g.: black).

looks fantastic! definitely completes the full leather look!

i have red deviating stitching on full leather but only noticed recently that the shift boot and e-brake stitching is not red... been trying to figure out how to get these pieces readily, anyone know?

I would contact Suncoast and inquire. They're one of the board sponsors here.

I wouldn't think a minor piece of the trim would make such a big difference, but it does. It looks great!

Yep. Almost the exact match with mine. I just have the Carbon Fiber package along with some additional CF pieces. Just can't quite decide whether to throw in the Black PDK trim or replace with Beige.
