I echo the sentiment about PASM on uneven/bad roads. Here in Cincinnati PASM has no place, except on very small stretches.

Also on bad roads and midwest: 19" rims may be a bad idea. Also consider that tires on 19" rims are more expensive, if that matters to you.

But the 3.8 is a great engine (as is the 3.6), it's a matter of what fits in your budget.

Does anyone in the Toronto area know where you can get a Bluetooth installed . I have the 911 06 so i guess its the PCM2 , Any thoughts on whether to go Tooki or M0bridge units . The other funny thing was when i went to put on my Front License Plate there is nothing there to mount it to anyone had to buy a holder . Would prefer not to have to drill holes in order to do that.

I can't believe you guys. The -10mm PASM should not be an issue on any road. PASM Normal deals with bad roads better than a fixed mechanical suspension. How do i know? I had both, that's why.

When I had my standard PASM I had no issues at all, now I have Bilstein Damptronics & GT3 bumper... Imagine how low my car is

Not in my opinion...I went with the base Carrera because I'm planning to mod so it made no sense to spend the extra $ when that money could have gone into personlization mods (not performance).

Wheels, tires, exhaust, and suspension plus some other goodies for less than the difference of buying an S.

That's my preference though.

I always say the same - if you have no intention to modify anything in your car - go with 'S' and enjoy her as she is.

But if you start modding your car all your 'S' will have in the end of this process will be an engine with .2 bigger displacement. This does not worth $10K-$15K price difference in the start.

Love the opinions!
Much like the OP & I... Probably just me...
There is much to learn about all these options.
The S sounds promising & no different than the non-S.
From where I will be coming from, all will suffice.

In order to get around drilling holes in the front bumper to mount a plate, you can purchase the tow hook license plate mount. There are a few companies that manufacture them.

I wouldn't buy an "s" because of the 19" wheels. With the roads the way they are I wanted 18" wheels and the higher ground clearance.

I am on the same boat before. For some reason I read a thread in another forum about base car satisfaction which I got convinced the base is good enough. But I feel inadequate when I see an S. It's psychological? Maybe. But I'm sure my next one will be gt3 or a turbo.

I think on the street the difference is usually minimal between C2 and C2S. I guess if I ever get another 911 it might be a Targa 4S with sport exhaust & PASM...all wheel drive, bigger engine, glass roof...won't be for another 3-4 years at least!!

I had PASM on my Boxster RS60 Spyder (with 19" rims), and it was so much rougher in sport mode. The roads here stink and while I loved PASM on smooth roads, on the bumpy stuff it jarred the heck outta me.

In daily driving, almost nothing. On paper: the 3.8L engine vs the 3.6L engine. All of the rest of the stuff is things that are standard on the S but can be individually optioned on the 3.6L base. If you end up getting the most of those options.. you can usually save money by just buying the S.

As far as PASM is concerned, if you have rough roads, just drive in Normal mode... which is better than a non-PASM car, I'm told. I added PASM to my 3.6L car (along with all the other options I wanted, and being able to exclude the options I did not want: 3.8L and 19" wheels)

Also with the "S", you will avoid "S" envy/regret....

My personal experience is that PASM in Normal is generally softer than the standard non-S suspension, even with 19's on my .2 S and 18's on my old .1 non-S.

So I guess the ideal combo for ride would probably be Minok's - non-S on 18's with PASM.
