Was at my dealership today. Noticed FOUR 997's on the lot and/or in the showroom, unsold. Not a huge dealership to begin with, but odd to see such 'new models' unsold.
Also some eye candy - the dealer principal's personal CGT is FOR SALE. Gee....no surprise.

Email me if you need details. I'm sure there are some sweet deals to be had.

no different than the 996
When I was shopping for my 996 - every dealer I went to had at least 5 C2's and 5 cabs, 1 or 2 GT3's and maybe 1 or 2 C4's, and at least 1 TT, all heavily optioned. You pretty much could have left with any car you wanted in 1 day. Of course I wanted very little in my car, no need fot for $90,000 C2, and had to order one that took 8 months, but that's another story.
Porsche's appeal to a lot of people was the status and unique "mistique". Prior to the boxster, you'd see a Porsche every once in a while - even in SoCal. Now, with all of the Boxsters, Cayenes, and Porsche dumping a huge number of 996s on the market - and the price point being so much lower - the status is gone and the big money is moving into Ferraris.
Just my opinion but I think Porsches are turning into Fords with performance. Which is all I wanted in the first place....

The dealership I was having my Cayenne yet again serviced had several 997 as well. What I found interesting that the 996 sitting next to the 997 look more modern in design. I guess that is what the 997 is all about....retro. It sure is an ugly duckling.
However the 996 C4S cab really looked good. They had a yellow one with, of all things, yellow wheels. It looked pretty. Also a mean black GT3 with Black wheels with a sticker of $123,000. OUch!
Oh, yes Porsche has killed the golden goose by flooding the market with thousands of look alike cars. Judgment day is near.

I originally wanted a 2002 - 2003 C4S and then went to the SF Auto Show and fell in love with the 997. My budget for this beast is $80 - 85k max "out the door" and need navigation (I get lost alot)." What should I do....wait a few months and try to negociate on a 997S or go with the 997 today?

Good luck.

Actually down here they are selling like crazy (S's that is). Was at Braman yesterday talking to one of my buddies and he said they can't keep a 997S on the lot!!! Reg carreras are a different story though as they had about 5 of those, but S's are rolling off the lot at MSRP all day long!!
