997 rear seat utility...

Considering moving to a 997 as daily driver. I have 2 young kids (1 and 5 years old) and am wondering how functional the rear seats are for the couple times a week I actually need to have them in the car with me. Do the child seats fit a little better in the 997 than then did when I had my 996 cars?

Thanks!

No problem..you just won't fit any adults back there. I have 2 boys, 5 and 8 years old and they fit fine in the back. The 8 yr. old doesn't even have to use a booster in the back while my 5yr.old does. You will probably want to remove the rear bottom seat cushion as this makes alot more room for a child seat.

The Recaro Vivo is a good seat for the money and it fits in the back with no issues.

Look on Amazon and they run about $80.00, this will make due for the 5 yr. old. The 1 yr. old will still need a full fledge car seat with the latch system but it can be done.

No problem here too. I take my son 6, and daughter 4 to school on my day off and during the weekend. I use the Porsche booster seats and I remove the bottom seat cushion. Also I am not tall, 5'7", and my son got plenty of leg room in the back. We always have a blast crusing with kids.

Thanks for the replies. My older daughter has always loved driving with me in my 911s but man it was a PITA to get the car seat snugly in the back. Do the 997s actually have LATCH system anchors?

Just the rear teather. But you can get a good car seat fitting snug back there without any problems. I did so for over a year with my now 2 year old and 5 year old girls.

I don't think it has LATCH anchors in the back, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I have 3 year old twins and they fit great in the Recaro Vivos. But the One year old will need a Britex Roundabout. The Vivos are 3yr/30lb/36inch booster.

I removed both the seat bottoms and backs and they fit fine.
Don't get me wrong, it's snug, or as I like to call it... intimate, but they love it.

You can buy a kit to deactivate the passengers side front air bag and it comes with the LATCH connectors for the front seat, but they are not in the rear of my 06 C2S

my 7yo fit perfectly at the rear seat with no use of booster.

12yo (5'2") is a tight fit as her head is almost touching the roof.

14yo refuses to sit in the back at all.

There's a tether connection under the carpet behind the seat back. Owner's Manual has good info (pg 50-55 for ".2") - go figure

The amount of room you need for you will make a huge difference. I am 6' 2" and it is cramped for the kids! 3 and 5 yrs olds. I have to move my seat forward so it won't crush their legs! With busy little feet, the back of your seats will be scuffed up unless you take their shoes off.

It is truly for short drives like drop offs in the morning but I always have to play backpack juggle and shoe juggle before being able to get them in and out of the car...

Yes. There is a latch anchor under the rear shelf carpet. You will have to cut the carpet to get to it.

I could almost swear that there is a DOT regulation that requires all passenger cars to be LATCH equipped. Maybe Porsche, to comply, only needs the LATCH system in the front seat. (I thought I read that there was some type of anchor in the back but you had to cut out some of the carpet to get to it?)

On my 07 997S there is a slot for the harness to connect to the latch, no cutting necessary.
